Pitti | Barbour TO KI TO (Beacon Heritage) Spring/Summer 2012

Barbour showcased their Spring/Summer Beacon Heritage TO KI TO collection at Pitti Uomo in Florence this week. Working through some low lighting, we did our best to bring you some of the featured jackets from the collection. As with all TO KI TO jackets from Barbour, expect Japanese inspired fitted, slim cuts that give just enough room to work around the active nature of each garment: bicycle jackets give space in the appropriate locations, for example. Many looks in here…

Pitti | Grenson Spring/Summer 2012

Selectism - Grenson-spring-2012-02

We’re feeling shoey today so you get Grenson as well as Church’s. They’ve added a longwing to the collection, which is a surprise as British shoe companies tend to duff up the longwing. We also caught up with Tim Little himself to catch a few quick words on the brand, Pitti itself and his favourite shoe from his collection.

Pitti | Woolrich Woolen Mills Spring/Summer 2012 Espadrilles

Before we take a full look at the Woolrich Wollen Mills collection for Spring/Summer 2012, we peek at a pair of camo espadrilles that are part of a small footwear offering that will complement the clothing. What you see is what you get with these: camo fabric on the classic jute sole.

Pitti | Church’s Spring/Summer 2012

Selectism - Churchs-spring-2012-04Church’s back! Church’s back! Got all these bloggers saying that Church’s back! They never left but we can’t miss an opportunity to make a Rick Ross reference. Like all Church’s collections these days the seasonal range continues to push boundaries – some of which may be pushed a little too far for our liking – but there’s always a classic with a twist that pulls us back in. See for yourself after the leap (no prizes for guessing the one that overstepped our boundaries).

Pitti | Mackintosh Spring/Summer 2012

Selectism - mackintosh-spring-2012-02

We’re reporting LIVE from Pitti Uomo! Well, not really live but on the same day, so that’s good enough. While there’s more unstructured blazers than you can shake a street style photographer at, we thought we’d focus on the good ol’ raincoat before we delve into all that. If you like your coats you know all about Mackintosh – and if you don’t the Mackintosh has long become a household name. This collection sees several new colourways (including the one you see above) and a new coat with a detachable cape. Enough yammering, take a leap and see for yourselves.

Sailor Jerry “Hold Fast” Tour

selectism - Sailor Jerry "Hold Fast" Tour

Celebrating the life and times of Norman “Sailor Jerry” Collins (who would have been 100 years old this year), Sailor Jerry launched the “Hold Fast Tour” on Thursday June 9, 2011 in New York. The brand swiftly headed to Long Beach, CA for Ink n’ Iron last weekend and hits Boston today.

The purpose of the tour is to find people who embody Jerry’s steadfast spirit of rebelliousness and feature them in an upcoming series of mini-documentaries. Equipped with a fleet of Airstream trailers, Sailor Jerry will hit music festivals, biker rallies, and BBQ conventions – all in the name of honoring men and women who remain true to their own individual belief in the American spirit.

Visit SailorJerry.com for all the locations the Airstreams will hit and be sure to share your story (as well as raise a glass in memory of Mr. Collins).

Cornell University Collaborates with Pendleton Woolen Mills

15 June 2011, 13.30 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »
The 2011 collection from Cornell University’s Pendleton Scholarship Team has been revealed. You may recall our coverage of the 2010 iteration, the first collection born from a project developed by students Mac Bishop and Jeff Aziakou. The goal of the program, originally titled “FEEDBACK,” is to prepare and present a fashion-forward menswear line. This year the line is called “The Road” and draws from vintage Americana and the naivety of youth.

Thom Browne for Dita Eyewear Autumn/Winter 2011

15 June 2011, 11.30 | Posted in Accessories | 1 comment »

Selectism - dita-thome-brown-sunglasses-0

Our big brother site lets us in on this Thom Browne eyewear situation:

“While DITA provide superior construction and craftsmenship, the aesthetic is defined by Browne’s signature sensibilities. The focus for the collection is derived from architects, politicians, studio artists, designers and professors from the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s while each piece is completed with the signatiure tri-color red, white and blue branding.”

You’ve read (a bit of) the press release, now check the glasses out for yourselves. On a sidenote, isn’t it a little odd that a sunglass range would even have an autumn/winter collection?
