One of our favorite street artists, Swoon, has an amazing new installation on view now at the New Orleans Museum of Art. Titled “Thalassa,” the sculpture spans the museum’s great hall and is inspired by the artist’s reaction to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Made from mostly found objects the work will be on display through September 25, 2011. Arrested Motion has some fantastic photographs (which we’ve pulled from), including all the preparation work for the sculpture.

To celebrate Father’s Day, NUMBER:Lab features some favorite New York dads. Each dad chosen represents NUMBER:Lab’s ideal of the super-cool and dedicated father. Each father was subject of a shoot incorporating the current range and interviewed about fatherhood and their relationship’s with their children.

Highsnob reports on the Burberry Prorsum Transparent Raincoat coming soon. “A rather interesting piece comes from the soon to be released Burberry Prorsum Fall/Winter 2011 Collection. The Transparent Rain Coat is to be worn on top of your regular coat during the rainy days of the fall season. The resulting look is quite futuristic and we are not really sure what to make of it yet, but it is certainly interesting.”

“Forgotten & Undisturbed” by Bob Chisholm opens July 1, at The Popular Wokrshop. The gallery discovered Chisholm’s prolific body of photographs while rooting through a half-abandoned home in the hills above Woodside about 5 years ago. Bob has led an atypical life to say the least. As evidenced in his work, he has been traveling and prolifically documenting these travels from the late fifties until the late nineties. For weeks, the curators sorted through 7500 slides to pick the 22 pieces in “Forgotten & Undisturbed”. This show aims to showcase the breadth of his work and the depth of Bob’s interactions with his subjects.”

Travel writer, Bruce Chatwin’s work is the inspiration behind the “high” Summer/pre-Autumn 2011 collection from J. Lindeberg. The idea of wandering is the focus; be it on the streets of Scandinavia or the hiking the natural landscapes of the world. The collection is, of course, wide and broad and offers look for the everyman.
