Uniforms for the Dedicated Spring 2012

We share three looks from the Spring/Summer 2012 Uniforms for the Dedicated collection. The Anorak has been worked in enviro-friendly textiles: hemp, cotton, and PET (you know, plastic bottles). Nice one. More in the gallery.

Selectism - haversack-nautical-chambray-shirt-01

We know some aren’t crazy about the printed shirt – we’ve even been referred to as ‘mainly bullmess these days’*. But we like ‘em and we won’t stop posting them – you’ve been warned. So put some nautical in your heritage in your chambray this year with this Haversack joint. (Context)

Pitti | Mark McNairy New Amsterdam Footwear for Spring/Summer 2012

Hello from the beautiful city of Florence. We’ll be reporting live from Pitt Uomo all week. We’ll be looking at shoes for  a bit today. Here’s a first look at the Spring/Summer 2012 collection from Mark McNairy. Creepers and “Jordan” inspired saddle shoes are garnering some attention. The Zebra chukkas work as well. Oh, and some of these look feature some special “Fuck Off” messaging on the sole.

Selectism | Around the Web

01. Dirk: And Then There Was One

My NBA fanhood boils down to a series of moments. Michael Jordan’s shove of Bryon Russell. Allan Houston’s Game 5 floater against the Heat to send the Knicks to the second round of the ‘99 playoffs. LeBron James’ 48 points against Detroit in Game 5 of the ’07 playoffs. The Kobe to Shaq alley-oop in Game 7 of the 2000 Western Conference Finals. The Ron Artest Game 7 three-pointer in last years’ NBA Finals, followed by a ceremonial salute to his therapist. (Dime).

02. Artist Polaroids From Bonnaroo 2011

“Festival photography is generally delivered from the vantage of the photo pits, and so we did, but this year we decided to present a more unique perspective on Bonnaroo’s sights. With the help of Graeme Flegenheimer, we distributed Polaroid cameras amongst some charming artists and told them to shoot whatever they wanted. In the gallery above is what they gave us back: over 100 select shots, some with scrawled captions, so you can get a sense of what Bonnaroo’s stars were looking at when they weren’t onstage looking back at you.” (Stereo Gum).

03. Treasures of eBay: Soccer Themed Condoms (Above)

“We know how you guys like to get funky with it. You put on your clean Messi jersey, crank up the vuvuzela music, and go the full 90 plus. You don’t even need the half-time break. The only (?) problem with your game right now are your disappointingly non-soccer themed prophylactics.” (KCRS).

04. LACMA: California Design

“As you might imagine, we inveterate modernists up here at Dwell are very, very excited for what will be one of the fall’s best forays into modern design. On October 1, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art is launching California Design 1930-1965: “Living in a Modern Way” which takes a good long look at how Californian design in the middle of the 20th century helped shape American material culture. I’m so thrilled to be talking with two of the shows curators Bobbye Tigerman and Wendy Kaplan at Dwell on Design on Friday June 24th to learn more about their research. But here’s a sneak preview of 13 of the over 300 objects that will make up the show.” (dwell).

hard graft 2Unfold Nero Bag

hard graft 2Unfold Nero Bag

Give it to hard graft for remaining a strong player in the modern men’s bag movement. Rather than falling on the classic and traditional looks of the past, they continue to develop forward thinking bags that play to the daily needs of a gentleman (and women as well, of course). Their 2Unfold Nero bag, developed back in 2007, gets a slight facelift in black along with some slight variations and updates. Versatile in all aspects, the 2Unfold can be shouldered or carried clutch-style.

Makr Bottle Key

curated mag - Makr Bottle Key

A bottle opener is, perhaps more than anything, the essential Summer accessory. Makr knows, and also knows a thing or two about making that essential something special. Their version of the standard bottle opener takes a blank antique brass key and modifies it for popping cold ones. Blends right in with your other keys… essential for being prepared, but not looking like a frat legend.

Subtlety, guys, is a good thing.

Full look after the jump.

Bowers & Wilkins PM1 Speakers

Acquire brings us  a look at some superior design in speakers. “Using a series of newly improved technologies, Bowers & Wilkins debuts the PM1 ($2,800), a new set of speakers that deliver big sound in a small package. The key feature of the PM1 is B&W’s new Carbon Braced Tweeter which improves upon the company’s aluminum domes that have been stiffened with filaments of carbon fiber to create a much smoother, more accurate sound.”
