Selectism - wrangler-blue-bell-trevor-jacket-01

Isn’t the name Trevor great? It’s so safe, so dependable, so what you’d want a denim jacket to be called. And thankfully, that’s just what Wrangler’s Blue Bell collection have done with this denim jacket. Like all things denim related this season, it’s washed and, therefore, it’s cool.

Selectism - springcourt-autumn-2011-05

The unofficial trainer of choice for one member of staff here at SL, here’s a look at Springcourt’s Autumn/winter 2011 collection. As usual, we like it, but, as usual, we like pairs from the women’s line. In fact we like them so much that we’ve decided to just post them up anyway.

Take a leap to see them all.

Selectism - homeward-bound-book-launch-06

We don’t usually cover events here at SL, but this one was a bit different. One of our  editors, Nick Schonberger, contributed to Homeward Bound, the book about the life and times of Sailor Jerry. So it’s only right we showcase what happened at this shindig at Number Six.

Phlegm “Funeral” in Sheffield

Selectism - phlegm 04 curatedmag Phlegm Funeral in Sheffield

We like a bit of phlegm here and so do Curated:

“Phlegm’s latest, a mural titled “Funeral”, is right in line with the artist’s recent quality. Highly detailed, distinct in narrative, and with a dash of dark undertone. Phlegm is fast becoming my favorite muralist in the street art scene.”

Nigel Cabourn T-shirt

Selectism - Nigel-cabourn-t-shirt-01

We put this up last year and we’re still shocked it hasn’t found its way to the UK (or the western hemisphere in general). If we were betting men, and we are, we’d say that this was part of Cabourn’s Japan only collection, although we’ve always thought pieces as basic as t-shirts should always be worldwide. We guess that’s what proxy’s are for – although we don’t blame you if you don’t feel like shipping a t-shirt halfway around the world. (Museum Arks)

Bedwin & The Heartbreakers Bandana

Selectism - bedwin-heartbreaker-bandana-01

Ready for floral print on your bandanas? Of course you are. The print on this bandana isn’t overwhelming, which’ll make it easier to mix into an outfit. It’ll be the parsley of an outfit as opposed to a hot pepper – complimenting instead of overbearing. (Garbstore)

01. Steve Jobs Pitches New ‘Mothership’ to Approving Cupertino City Council
“A day after handling part of Monday’s keynote at Apple’s 2011 Worldwide Developers Conference, Jobs showed up at the Cupertino, California, city council to start the ball rolling on a new proposed headquarters that, like a lot of what Apple designs, is like nothing you’ve ever seen.” (wired)

02. Bill Simmons welcomes his readers to the debt of Grantland
“Life will deliver a few moments when something substantial is about to happen, when you know it’s substantial, when you’ve done everything you could to prepare for the moment, but still, you just don’t know. And it would be foolish to pretend otherwise. I felt that way when I was getting married, when both of my kids were being born, when I graduated college, and incredibly, when I was standing in front of that stupid Carl’s Jr. Oh my God. There is no stopping this now. Please tell me this will turn out all right. You take a leap of faith with life. You inhale and exhale. You hope.” (grantland)

“A selection of some of the most awesome Behind-the-scenes shots I’ve seen from some famous movies. Back when set designs were huge and hand made, when special effects where mechanical and photographic and film stars were risking their lives on the set.” (angusrshamal via kottke)

Closed Autumn/Winter 2011 Footwear Preview

Closed Autumn/Winter 2011 Footwear Preview

To be honest we have not been paying too much attention to Closed these last couple of years. While we have always appreciated their denim and especially cotton pants program, the brand somehow slipped our mind. A while ago we ended up walking into their booth at a fashion tradeshow and checked out their Autumn/Winter 2011 Collection.

Much like the rest of the market, Closed had gotten wind of the heritage trend and styled much of their upcoming collection after it. Overall we have to say though, that the collection looked very solid. Rather than going too far with the inspiration, the brand managed to take details and silhouettes out of heritage and added their own flavor and modern take to it, with the result being an easy to wear, casual collection, with lots of nice details.

Here we take a look at the footwear of the upcoming collection, consisting of some hiking boot styles, high rise boots and our personal favorites, the fur lined desert boots.

Have a look at the rest of the footwear collection after the jump.
