Capsule | A Kind of Guise Spring/Summer 2012

Selectism - a-kind-of-guise-spring-2012-01

Capping off Capsule for the day is A Kind of Guise. The German brand have been on our radar for a while now and, if this collection is anything to go by, they’ll be on everyone else’s in a few seasons time. Segsy looking bomber jackets aside, there’s a great speckled shirt, bags and a suede shirt for your viewing pleasure after the leap.

Selectism - narrative-spring-2012-02

Now onto an old SL favourite in Narrative. After a couple of seasons off the radar, they’ve relaunched at the rate of a speeding shark. Clumsy references aside, their shark sole is a firm favourite of ours (and we have to note that they’ve been doing this for muuuuch longer than Prada, check our archives) and they’ve also cleaned up the wallaby. As someone who doesn’t think everything was perfected in 1960, we agree with any updates to classics that actually improve them.

Take a look for yourself after the leap.

Capsule | Wood Wood Spring/Summer 2012

Selectism - wood-wood-spring-2012-01

Capsule round up time! This time we’re kicking off with Scandinavian brand Wood Wood. We’ve always liked a bit of Wood Wood, mainly because they’re our halfway house between streetwear and the more classic stuff. Also, they’re inspired by the Happy Mondays, which is reason enough for us to like anyone.

Take a leap to see what we’ve chose. Or what we’ve curated, if you’re the kind of douche who uses the word curated to talk about clothing.

Sunpocket Sunglasses

Want to wear what a celebrated member of the menswear illuminati’s wearing? Of course you do – why else would you be here? Believe it or not the first step isn’t wearing EG head to toe, it’s actually getting a pair of these Sunpocket glasses on your face. The lens are polycarbonate  (apparently they’re unbreakable) and, best of all, they only cost £45. Fold them up for storage. Available through Sunpocket onlineUrban Industry (UK), and Opening Ceremony.

Surface 2 Air Spring/Summer 2012 Collection

Today we preview the new Spring/Summer 2012 Collection by French brand Surface 2 Air. The collective also involved in advertising, design and music, gives us a look at their upcoming collection, which nicely mixes their typical French touch with a clean cut collection, which could also come from a Scandinavian brand. The signature leather jackets by Surface 2 Air are of course also part of the collection, next to some nice shirting, washed crewneck sweaters, easy to wear t-shirts and more.

The full Surface 2 Air Spring/Summer 2012 Collection can be viewed after the jump.

Simpson Kalisher: The Alienated Photographer

Selectism - The Alienated Photographer

Curated turns us onto this exhibition:

“American Street photographer Simpson Kalisher is celebrated in a small exhibition, Simpson Kalisher: The Alienated Photographer, on view through September 18, 2011 at the MFA Boston. Kalisher’s no-nonsense street scenes capture the spirit of 1950s/60s New York City. In 2009, the MFA received a gift from Kalisher supporter Gloria Richards of 100 photographs. 59 of these works make up the current exhibition, a selection that is at once “instantly familiar” and capable of inspiring a thousand questions.”

Martin Margiela Two Piece Card Holder

Selectism - martin-margiela-card-holder-01

So we’ve come to the conclusion that, judging from the sheer amount of appearances on here, Margiela are SL’s favourite label. We’re not ashamed either, we love their stuff, both pre and post the man himself. Why do we like them? Take a look at that card holder. And then slap yourself for asking that question. (Oki-Ni)

Selectism - want-les-essentiels-organic-tote-bag-01

If you’re anything like us you’ve been looking at Want Les Essentiels and thinking ‘it looks great, I want all of it. But I’d also like to be able to pay the rent this month. I don’t think my landlord will let me off for reasons of steeze’. So if you’re like us, you’ve been waiting on the organic range, which takes all of that Want Les goodness and distills it into a slightly more affordable package. It’s a win win for us and our landlords. (Nitty Gritty)
