ACNE Men's Spring/Summer 2012 Presentation

Johansson take 70’s inspiration in exploring the sport side of fashion with ACNE’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection. In his words the collection was about  ”creating tight, elegant but always functional silhouette[s]. I find the way you dress for sport really interesting. Looking at friends of mine and the way they dress for sports, I’ve been really inspired. It’s like a new way of dressing up.”

Selectism - Mismo-spring-2012-01

Our last Capsule nugget for the day is perennial SL favourite Mismo. They’ve added some and shapes to the collection, including a day tote that can be turned into a backpack. Elsewhere the changes are more subtle; a new green added here, a change to the strap there, take a peek for yourself after the leap.

Selectism - Mighty-Mac-spring-2012-06

This season was about the return of the Mighty Mac (sorry, we had to do it). The eagle eyed will have spotted the Porter logo on the bag above, the company teaming up with the bag brand to create their own version of the bag/coat combo that Mighty Mac specialise in. Elsewhere there’s some handsome coats (including one with a flashlight on the zip) and a footwear collaboration with french store Anatomica.

See it all after the leap.

Selectism - creep-spring-2012-01

Creep’s been growing steadily for a few seasons now (it took us all our energy to not say ‘creeping up’ just there) and, with a stand at Capsule, they should be expanding in Europe soon enough. We’ve got our eye on the tapestry blazer, a piece which shouldn’t work but does. On the collab front, there was a team up with American workwear label Pointer brand.

Take a leap, see more images.

Warehouse Dubbleworks Pocket Tee

Here’s another one for the summer tee collection. We would wax lyrical about this but it’s from a Japanese brand and it’s got the word ‘dub’ in the name. What else can a blog ask for these days? All that’s missing is a picture of a steezy Italian fellow wearing it underneath a double breasted blazer. (Mr Mudd & Mr Gold)

Recap | Jessica Rohrer “Oakridge Road”

Selectism - 2011 shotbyjake

Curated recaps Jessica Rohrer’s ‘Oakridge Road’:

“Jessica Rohrer’s third solo exhibition at P.P.O.W runs through July 23, 2011. Through 24 new paintings, Oakridge Road, depicts a series of domestic interiors and suburban life from the artist’s own immediate surroundings. Influenced by photographers like Thomas Demand, Rohrer paints with staggering precision and deftly balances what is and is not rendered in the vignettes. Rohrer’s spaces are, to an extent, sanitized – her version of hyper-realism idealizing her subjects.”

Paul Smith Spring/Summer 2012 Runway

Selectism - paul-smith-spring-2012-01

Fashion’d out yet? Of course not. So here’s a look at Paul Smith’s runway show from Paris. While there was the now seemingly requisite printed shirt in this collection, the main focus was on lightweight knitwear and suiting in a variety of blues. The other main story of the show? Colour blocking and a dash of leopard print.

See for yourself after the leap.
