NSF "For the Love of Making" Autumn 2011 Collection

NSF delivers looks from their Autumn 2011 program. The theme, “For the Love of Making” is spoken through the models from various fields that help represent the garments. “The creative spirit can be traced in American fashion history, with denim as a narrative thread. Images of entrepreneurs, artists and engineers at work have defined this persona for generations. This season, with the introduction of NSF denim for men, we wanted to take a closer look. We began with the people we know and love; creating a photographic essay of friends and collaborators. Clothing and the creative spirit, at work, in beautiful alchemy.”

Highlight colors work throughout the collection. The knit-top above is a great casual garment for the season. Much more to be seen in our gallery.

Video | The Finale at El Bulli on Nowness

20 July 2011, 17.30 | Posted in Food & Beverages | 1 comment »

Nowness works over a look inside one of the world’s most famous restaurants in Spain. “Photographer and filmmaker Marcus Gaab gained exclusive access to the kitchen, documenting the magic that goes into a typical 47-course meal. Gaab trailed head chef Ferran Adrià and his 70-strong staff as they meticulously constructed everything from gorgonzola balls (a frozen sphere of the cheese with a soft center) to chocolate coral (strawberry-powder-dusted warm chocolate molded in the shape of sea coral).”

Nathan Clark, Creator of the Clarks Desert Boot Has Died

A slight delay on this one. Mr Clark passed back in June.

Sad news in the world of men’s footwear. Nathan Clark, creator of the iconic Clarks Desert Boot has died at the age of 94. We pull from the Telegraph UK obit: “Clark, a great-grandson of James Clark, who co-founded the Quaker footwear company in 1825, was serving in Burma during the Second World War when he noticed some servicemen wearing rough suede boots with crepe soles, of a type made by local tradesmen in Cairo’s Old Bazaar for British officers of the Eighth Army…After the war Clark returned to the family firm and, after further work on the design, took some pairs of Desert Boots to the 1949 Chicago Shoe Fair, where they were an instant hit.” (bltn)
