What do you call it, a jersey t-shirt? What do you call it a short sleeved sweatshirt? Whatever you call it, it’s a great piece that’s actually suited for July. And it’s made by Tender, who slowly turning into an SL favourite. (Hickorees)

What’s the phrase for being seasonally ahead of your time? Season forward? Seasonally directional? Whatever it is, that’s what we are. How else would you explain us showing off this Fred Perry harrington? Either way, get your hands on these and you too can be seasonally forward. It’s the new black. (End)

Adam Kimmel for Carhartt Denim Overshirt

Selectism - adam-kimmel-carhartt-shirt-01

Unless we’re sorely mistaken, this is the first season the Kimmel for Carhartt collection is appearing in stores. The prices are definitely more Adam Kimmel than Carhartt but the collab itself makes sense. It’s not exactly denim overshirt weather right now but if you have chilly nights (or chilly days if you’re in the UK) it’s a great substitute jacket. (French Trotters)

Curated turns us onto this:

“Appearing to disintegrate as they rise, Tomohiro Inaba’s sculptures begin with anatomically correct subject matter. The skulls are most impressing, employing steel wire to stunning effect and highlighting the power of material. Check Inaba’s website for more.”

Kiehl’s Invigorating Grapefruit Collection

You know what we hate? Transparent attempts to ‘dude up’ your product. Naming soap ‘fuel’ and featuring pictures of greased up rockers in leather jackets doesn’t make things look cooler, it just looks teenage. Which is why we’ve chosen something from the ‘gifts for her’ part of the site. It’s all just stuff that cleans your body at the end of the day, there’s no need to for it to threaten your masculinity. And if it does, then surely your masculinity was pretty frail to begin with? (Kiehls)

01. Interview: English Frank

“Live Magazine Music Editor Leanne talks to Grime MC English about how growing up in Brixton shaped his music career, his lyrical content, experiences of drugs and crime, his Feel The Realness movement and his opinions on other grime artists.” (Live Magazine).

02. Pop and Punk Drawings by Marc Brandenburg (Above)

“The artist Marc Brandenburg (*1965 in Berlin) has recently emerged as one of the best-known draftsmen of his generation. Affected by the pop and punk culture, Brandenburg documents aggressions, excesses and social exclusions in his graphite drawings as a reality of today’s society. His works are images of a subversive nightlife, portraits or extremely zoomed-in details of ordinary objects. These images seem to be harmless but turn to become symbols of experienced violence and power. Velocity and movement are the most recurrent motives of Brandenburgs works. His models are own photos and images. He alters them into negatives by dissecting them in a complex copying process. Also the technical results of this copying process are part of the artwork at the end: A free hand drawing.” (Art Daily).

03. SuperStadium / Alan Lu

“A proposal for an Olympic complex for Harbin’s bid for the 2022 Winter Olympics, SuperStadium, designed by Alan Lu, seeks to integrate the multitude of Olympic arenas and villages into one continuous entity. Consequently, this design allows for a seamless transition between programs and events. More images and project description after the break.” (ArchDaily).

04. Tom Hardy takes on Al Capone in Cicero

“Harry Potter director David Yates is set to direct the film for Warner Bros, which is rumoured to be the first of a franchise. If so, it will likely cover Capone’s childhood in New York, his teenage years as a member of the infamous Five Points Gang and his move to the southside Chicago suburb of Cicero, where he made millions running illegal speakeasies during Prohibition.” (Guardian).

Video | Numerically Controlled

http://www.vimeo.com/26587452

“This project is a collaboration between MWM Graphics, aarn, and Paper Fortress Films. The process of creating a “drawing” using a numerically controlled Sharpie is documented in a short video. Vector graphics are converted into a tool path and then a machine language which controls a 3-axis CNC machine retrofitted with a special fixture that holds a marker and mimics hand pressure during the act of drawing. Thirty-three mechanical drawings in three designs were produced using this process.”
