Modernist Cuisine is a massive six-volume, 2,438-page book set that looks to  ”rein­vent cook­ing.” Heavily illustrated using thousands of original images, Modernist Cuisine, helps distinguish the science and technology of modern cooking. “The authors and their 20-person team at The Cooking Lab have achieved astounding new flavors and textures by using tools such as water baths, homogenizers, centrifuges, and ingredients such as hydrocolloids, emulsifiers, and enzymes. It is a work destined to reinvent cooking.”

The book looks to have sold of its first printing. A second printing is on the way. Amazon offers a few remaining copies. Many are considering this the be all, end all in cooking tomes. Prices in at just around $500 for the collection. For serious chefs….

Mr. Lagerfeld continues to dip his fingers into various design outlets. Be it cola bottles or photography of chocolate, he clearly is not limiting his works to one arena. The latest is a collection of pens with St. Dupount. Choose between two variations: “Prestige” in red lacquer or “Chic” in black with palladium “attributes.”  Those seeking fountain pens will find them amongst the rollerballs in either collection. We’re loving the new colorways from Soulland in their signature brimmed cap. Take a look at their bowlers which offer pales, red, and more for Spring/Summer 2012. We’re not sure how many of Soulland’s hats have landed in the Americas but we hope to see more on the streets. As shown at SEEK, Berlin.

Our friends at WATM bring us exceptional looks at one of more exciting collections in footwear for Spring/Summer 2012. The Florsheim by Duckie Brown collection delivers colors, and texture that is sure to excite the masses. I will argue this is their best collection to date.  The woven idlers and mocassins win across the board. Two-tone saddle shoes may be more of your flavor. Well worth a sneek.

Switzerland’s QWSTION takes their textile production in-house for Spring/Summer 2012. Their new fabric, designed by their team, gives their convertible laptop/office bag a distinct look. It almost looks like a hemp sack. The important part is the strappings which can be rearranged in either horizontal or vertical form. The photos tells it all. As shown at SEEK, Berlin.
