Laos born designer, Hien Le is one of the newcomers in the Berlin fashion scene. The designer presented his Spring/Summer 2012 collection during the Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week. A graduate of the University of Applied Sciences in Berlin, Le has worked across the agency and sales level. Two years ago, Le went on his own and delivered his first collection. Today he continues this move forward. “Besides concentrating on discreet cuts and the subtle application of details, he consequently maintains his claim to manufacture clothing that combines diligent design with accurate workmanship, everything produced in Germany.”

They’re pushing the Brooks Select for “high mileage” cyclists. I have to admit my eight year old B17 Special is a bit soft even after a lacing, so it would seem that the new Brooks Select line, made from organic raised “natural paced” cow leather would do the trick. Brooks says their Select line is more durable and stiff due to the nature of the leather. That means longer break-in time, but even more years of use. Hand stamped copper rivets are found on all Select saddles. The complete line is avaiable in the new leather from the Sparrow, B17, to the spring varieties.

“Summer doesn’t begin until I’ve sipped a margarita on a deck.”
My friend and colleague Justina Barrett has adhered staunchly to this simple philosophy since she reached drinking age. While the official beginning of summer has passed, and most have indulged in their own season-marking tradition already, the time is still ripe for discussion of the main ingredient of a margarita – tequila.
With that in mind, we visited the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, specifically the Milagro distillery, to see how tequila is made.

While we’re old enough to remember using jigsaw puzzles there’s probably some young whippersnapper reading this who has no recollection of jigsaws whatsoever. The rest of us will know the agony of missing pieces of puzzles, leaving that picture of the Eiffel tower forever uncompleted. So does designer Rupert McKelvie, although he’s done a little more with those missing pieces than we would’ve done – creating a table from the 4,800 pieces that usually end down the back of your grandma’s couch. You young whippersnappers couldn’t do that with your PS2 games, could you? (Yanko Design)

Did we ever say RIP to the word crispy? We should’ve done. Because (a) that was a really silly phrase and (b) it would’ve been the perfect word to describe these trousers. So, in absence of the C word, we’ll have to make do with its replacement, steezy. It just doesn’t sound the same. (Nitty Gritty)

Tenue de Nîmes is launching a collection of special, hand-dyed, natural indigo, customized Converse Chuck Taylor All Star shoes. They’re bangers indeed. Released during Amsterdam Fashion Week, the custom indigo colored Chuck Taylor All Star shoes will be issue in a run of 50 pairs.
“Tenue de Nîmes asked the legendary denim experts, the Manabe family from Okoyama in Japan, owners of the Momotaro brand and Rampuya dyeing factory” to produce the run. The results are outstanding. They deliver and drop on July 15.

We wonder when, and if, clothing as light thing will ever end:
“Studio Gorm is responsible for this charmer, “a table lamp with an integrated tray, works well as bedside table to collect books, phones and small odds and ends or as an entry table to deposit incoming mail and keys.” Made of hardwood, porcelain and steel.”

Now here’s something that’s actually appropriate for right now – shorts. If you’re the type of person who’s still dilly dallying – yeah we said it, dilly dallying – over whether to wear shorts then these shorts should help sway you. They’re called skinny on the site but bear in mind that Oliver Spencer skinny is a long way from Cheap Monday skinny. They’re more of a tailored cut that should flatter, not flatten your legs.
