"Sporting Life" at FIT NYC

A current exhibition over at FIT cover the more than a century of sporting fashions. “Sporting Life explores this relationship between sportswear and fashion from the mid-19th century through the present. Featuring more than 100 garments, accessories, and textiles from the Museum’s permanent collection, the exhibition is organized thematically around styles associated with sailing, swimming, golfing, skating, motoring, and other sporting activities.”

The exhibition runs through November 5.

Woah. Heavy on the tassels is how Christian Loutboutin does these suede numbers. They are indeed slightly overdone but in the right suit or attire they will work to your advantage. Seeing as the waiting list on these tassel loafers is a long one (check online) you’ll be sure to be one of the few in them when they arrive. Tasselissimo as they say.

The Blanket Lined Trucker Jacket from Levi's Tailor Shop

Levi’s worked on this Blanket Lined Trucker as part of their Levi’s Union Square Tailor Shop initiative in San Francisco. “The Tailor Shop has deconstructed Vintage Levis Big E Denim Jackets from the 1960’s and by using 100% cotton thread re-purposes cotton camping blankets from the 1940’s as an inside lining. Each unique handpicked vintage camping blankets allows for these jackets to be exceptionally personal.”
