Sanders Playboy Boot

22 August 2011, 11.00 | Posted in Shoes | 1 comment »

Sanders Playboy Boot
The Sanders Playboy boot took on legendary status when little known, never photographed American actor, Steven McQueen (yeah, we’ve never heard of him either) wore them to great style effect in the 60’s. Setting themselves apart from the desert boot with a tough thick crepe sole it’s difficult to imagine a time when these won’t be a footwear classic.

Sorry, but you have you facts a little mixed up here. McQueen actually wore Huttons Playboys, not the Sanders model. And whilst these are a great shoe/boot, (I have 3 pairs) they are significantly different to those McQueen wore. For the nearest looking one you can look to either the George Cox Popboy shoe, or, recently discovered by myself, Weaver Moccasin – Samoa Shoe (available at OiPolloi) which is the first for a long time to feature the original leather foxing attaching the crepe sole to the suede upper.
