This summer seems like the start of a new awareness for the Rivieras line of ship-on liesure shoes. Sure the Mediterranean world has been on them for ages, but with new takes on weaving and, suedes, and natural fibers on their uppers, the rest of the world may start strolling in the brand. The leather insole is about as good as it gets for allowing your feet to breathe in the warm weather.

Monitaly delivers a small “resort” collection for Spring 2012. It is unlike their usual tailored looks with a focus on a more relaxed approach to leisure. The “ikat” look is brought to life on shorts, trouers, and pull-overs. Both yarn dyed and printed techniques are used to bring out the “ikat” flavor.

GANT Rugger’s Autumn/Winter 2011 campaign was filmed over the course of 24hours and captures the essence of the collection. “Staying up all night was never such fun.”

Some looks at the Gitman Vintage Spring 2012 collection as shown at (capsule) Las Vegas. The collection offers patterns pulled from their archive as well as what we believe to be new prints that continue to keep Gitman as one of the go-to shirt makers in the States.

We also preview some of the new shorts coming from the collection. We’re loving the zebra print.

The Nudie Wes Melton shirt has been inspired by a Nordic sailor work shirt, made from tightly bound Melton Wool, as the name may suggest. The shirt is lined with cotton poplin and features cuff, pocket flap and collar accents in light blue chambray, demonstrating Nudie’s developing eye for detail outside their core denim interests. The simplicity of the piece nods toward a much-observed sense of maturity currently associated with the Swedish brand, a feeling bolstered by such releases that have recently felt less linked to trend, and more so driven by functionality. -jr
