San Francisco’s Unionmade have recently taken stock of this 1970s inspired Beams+ jacket. The Mountain Parka lands as prime example of the Japanese labels’ understanding of US outdoors design, made from breathable 60/40 cotton/nylon in a rather fetching green/orange colourway. This light, all weather jacket has arrived as we head into autumn, though with the right layers would surely work throughout a harsh winter; intentionally produced a touch shorter than the original jackets of the 1970s, making it a more practical option for year-round wear. -jr

Carhartt WIP have long been considered as the most progressive arm of the Carhartt brand; known for combining elements of their workwear past with modernist design, thereby producing garments wholly more palatable for a contemporary, urban-ready wardrobe. For AW 11, Carhartt WIP have produced a range that addresses a universal need for basic, hardwearing attire, in-keeping with the brand’s recognised visual style. They’ve focused on streamlining silhouettes, forgoing typically boxy, oversized workwear fits, making their range entirely more accessible.

Carhartt took a rather innovative approach with their campaign images for the collection, collating 5 hours of VHS footage, to then hand pick a selection of stills to represent the collection, as pictured. The brand chose to again align themselves with German artist and photographer Alexander Basile, whom they’ve previously worked with on a variety of projects. Basile shot and directed the footage, which has now been divided into a series of videos currently showcased on the brand’s website. -jr

Elephant Magazine have recently unveiled issue 7 of their young art publication. Beautifully printed and bound, bursting with lush colour and intelligent, balanced critique, Elephant arrives as a refreshing read amongst a series of would-be peers in one of prints most over-saturated (and quite frankly stale) genres. The magazine highlights work of both established and up-and-coming artists, providing an exciting look into a global, ever-changing creative landscape.
