Oliver Spencer Holdall

Oliver Spencer Holdall

The past few seasons has seen Oliver Spencer expand their lines whilst strategically unifying a core aesthetic, focusing on the continued development of both garments and accessories.

The later has benefited from what feels like a greater level of attention, most recently demonstrated by the introduction of A/W’s leather holdall. The bag comes in chocolate brown or tan, both of which feature a striking camo-print lining, providing a concealed contrast to the minimal outer. It also includes a detachable canvas shoulder strap and front-mounted pockets. The pockets secure with two simple rivets as not to distract from the intentional simplicity of the piece, a sure indicator of the brands continued commitment to quality detailing. The bag is currently available from the Oliver Spencer store. -jr

SEH Kelly Collar Shirt

SEH Kelly Collar Shirt

London’s SEH Kelly recently unveiled their latest design -the Kelly collar shirt. In support of their homeland’s resources, the young label ventured to Cumbria to track down the finest cotton poplin, to ultimately transform their find into two quality shirts furnished with real Corozo buttons.

In a subtle departure from previous efforts, the Kelly collar shirt includes fastening tabs on both the (penny) collar and cuffs, directing additional attention toward these areas, all without overpowering the clean lines of the piece. The shirts arrive as a welcome extension to the brand’s growing library of attire, in-keeping with a consistent visual language defined by simplicity, purpose and premium quality materials.

The shirt comes in a grey & white stripe (pictured) or ecru & white stripe, both available direct from SEH Kelly. -jr

J.A. Christensen for The Curatory Neckties

16 August 2011, 14.00 | Posted in Accessories | No comments »

ja-christensen-curatory-neckties-mens-2

Thanks to Mister Mort for pointing us towards this new addition to J.A Christensen’s line. A small scale enterprise, Jim produces each tie himself on a single needle sewing machine using design and methods based on those of 1930’s American tailor H.A. Otter. His vintage fabrics are generally picked up on his travels and date from the 30’s or 40’s. This particular model (above) is a collaboration with the folks at The Curatory, the North Carolina store run by the guys behind Raleigh Denim. A very short run of ten, you’ll have to be quick to get your hands on and neck under this. If you miss out a range of smart denims and chambrays are also available from his website. -ld

Just How Green Is Your Bicycle Commute?

01. Church in a tree

“This is Chêne Chappelle, a large tree holding a small church in the French village of Allouville-Bellefosse. Today, worshippers entered the tree for the Assumption of the Virgin. ” (boing)

02. Newswordy

“Buzzwords are frequently used in news media. These are words that do not typically occur in everyday speech, but are common among newscasters, talking heads, and pundits on cable news. Newswordy is a growing collection of these words, updated every weekday. Along with each word is a definition, a quote with its use (or misuse) in the media, and a news and Twitter feed on the subject.” (coudal)

03. Alarm Clock by Punkt

“The AC 01 alarm clock by Jasper Morrison, designed for electronics manufacturer Punkt, was envisioned as a no-nonsense item, reduced to its essentials. The purpose of this design is to reintroduce us to the traditional alarm clock and stir us away from using a cell phone as a waking devise. With this simple timepiece by our bedside there will be no fumbling around in the dark, no radiation, and no unwanted calls in the middle of the night.” (minimalissimo)

04. Just How Green Is Your Bicycle Commute? (above)

“With bike sharing and committed bike lanes on the rise, it seems like biking would be the no-brainer option for an eco-friendly commute, and yet some critics ponder if biking is actually better than taking the bus or a cab. But fear not, bike riders of the world. The evidence is in at Slate.com, and it is convincing: biking is the greenest way to get to work.” ” (inhabitant)

"Ed Fox, Vol. 2" Book

We love photo books and love them even more when they revolve around the beautiful female form. Photographer, Ed Fox, continues to explore the curves of women in his second photography collection for Taschen. His first collection, Glamour from the Ground Up Ed Fox, Vol. 2 Book studied what he calls “a woman’s second body,” her feet (”the one I can visually enjoy without her being offended or even aware”). The new collection, Ed Fox, Vol. 2 Ed Fox, Vol. 2 Book works on delivering a study of every curve – from head to toe.

Ed Fox, Vol. 2 Ed Fox, Vol. 2 Book also comes with a 60-minute DVD that helps bring his photography into motion. Coming October 2011.

Fjällräven for ACE Hotel Kånken Packs

Some new collaborative business from the ACE Hotel group. The latest comes in the form of two school backpacks from the Fjallraven collection. They’re small packs but a great shape for a short walk-out. Did I mention I used to rock one of these back in the 90’s during the big US raves? Serious. Find them in the ACE online store.
