Lou Dalton Marl Knit Jumper

Selectism - lou-dalton-marl-jumper-01

We’re gonna get all music snob and say we’ve been into wearing Lou Dalton since before the likes of Liberty got on board. But we’re going to defy that stereotype and announce that we still like the stuff, but we will be pulling out older pieces – we’re not sure you can call it ‘Vintage Lou’ yet – and walking around newcomers with a knowing smirk. It’s the right thing to do. (Oki-Ni)

Selectism - b-store-liberty-shirt-01

Here’s the sort of shirt we’d wear to a gig, a Talking Heads one specifically. We bring this up because (a) we’re on the lookout for shirts that are suitable gig attire and (b) we’re listening to the Talking Heads as we type. ‘Girlfriend is better’ since you asked. (B Store)

We’re Arsenal fans here, so putting up this Nike video (even with two our best players due to leave) was a prerequisite. Now we can only hope that we can look as good over a season as we do in a three minute video.

Selectism | Around The Web

Selectism - forme-foryou

01. DIY Dining Table

“After completing my first DIY desk using hairpin legs, I instantly dreamed about making a round dining table. I had to wait months until we moved, but I never stopped daydreaming about how perfect it would be, and even started buying supplies before we moved into the new place.” (For Me, For You)

02. Glodeane and Barry

“I miss Glodeane. As Barry White’s muse and inspiration for a number of years, the Long Beach, California, native, along with her sister, Linda, developed their skills as vocalists in the church choir before meeting up with their third–Linda Taylor. Together, the girls worked as the Croonettes, making their way as best they could in a world where there was no shortage of black, girl singers, until providence arrived in the form of blue-suited, big-chested, and marcelled Barry White (1944-2003). The ultimate impresario signed them to a deal, and produced two of the most unforgettable soul records of the nineteen-seventies: “Walking In The Rain (With The One I Love),” And “I Belong To You.” (Et Als)

03. Ghostface Killah Sues Universal

“Last month, we reported that TV composer Jack Urbont was suing Ghostface Killah because Ghost’s 2000 album Supreme Clientele allegedly unlawfully sampled “The Iron Man Theme”, which Urbont wrote for the 1960s TV show “The Marvel Super-Heroes”. At the same time as Ghost fends off that lawsuit, he’s filing one of his own. Billboard reports that Ghost is suing the Universal Music Group for unpaid royalties.” (Pitchfork)

04. Dennis Rodman to Enter Hall of Fame Via Helicopter

“Earlier this week, there was a bit of a letdown when we learned that Dennis Rodman would be on his best behavior during his Hall of Fame ceremony. But fear not, the event will not be a bore.

It will be featuring Dennis Rodman after all, as the headliner no less.” (Slam Online)

Patrick Stephan “Body Bag” for Isetan

Patrick Stephan for Isetan Mens Bag

Isetan gets a limited run in special colors of Patrick Stephan’s men’s oversized bag. They call it the “body bag” (a choice translation) and it comes in  two colorways for Isetan. The sheepskin leather is an outstanding choice to keep the bag soft while breaking down into an even more supple finish. Check the cityscape interior lining for an additional bonus.

Stumptown by Danner Boots Collection

11 August 2011, 18.30 | Posted in Shoes | 4 comments »

Stumptown by Danner Boots Collection

Not to be confused with the coffee house, the Stumptown by Danner collection of boots delivers original Danner patterns with a new modern twist for the coming season. By partnering with various designers, Danner opened up exploration in form for a re-imagining of a more simple time in their history. Taking a page from their roots in the Pacific Northwest, the Stumptown name pays homage to Portland, OR’s history in logging. The collection offers some excellent takes for the coming cold season. Worth a look.
