Mr Hare ‘Genet’ Loafers

Selectism - mr-hare-genet-loafers-01

Here’s a shoe that’s back for the first time. If our memory serves us correctly, this is the loafer that was made for the debut collection but didn’t make it in due to technical issues. Thankfully not much has changed about it; it looks like the sexy beast of a loafer it always did. We’re aware of a dedicated team of anti tassel fans (we call ‘em antitasselers) but if you don’t like this shoe there is something wrong with your soul. (Oki-Ni)

A beautiful video by Buffalo Picture House; two young filmmakers wander the sodden streets of Manhattan as Hurricane Irene (later downgraded to a Tropical Storm) wades through the city of New York. This black and white offering spans a mere 1 minute 18 seconds, yet manages to convey an almost alien sense of serenity in one of the US’ busiest cities, an emotive gem. -jr

Infographic | James Bond Cars

Here’s a great info graphic seen over on Autoblog: all those famous James Bond vehicles. You can see the full graphic after the click, but for those who wonder how they went from a Bentley in “From Russia with Love” to A Chevy in “Live and Let Die,” you may not find answers. Our guess is that it came down to Sean Connery’s preference and maybe Mr. Moore getting shafted a little. Nothing wront with a Chevy, but it’s no Bentley. The again the Bentley reign did not last too long. Judge for yourself.

Warriors of Radness Autumn/Winter 2011 Looks

WOR. We’ve been with them since day one and every season it seems as though more people (and the industry as a whole) either fall in love with the brand or continue to be puzzled by the message. Problem is, we don’t believe there actually is one. The Warriors of Radness world is one of leisure and comfort. As their release states it: with “nights getting longer it just means there’s more time to drink more beer, smoke more herb, and #%&@! more chicks.”  Fuck yeah, it is.

This is Warriors of Radness for Autumn/Winter 2011. Enjoy.

Chonicle Books’ The MAD Fold-In Collection: 1964-2010 The MAD Fold In Collection: 1964 2010 Book Set is a great four volume box-set collecting more than 40 years worth of Al Jaffee’s iconic fold-ins for MAD Magazine. “Generations have grown up with Jaffee’s inspired skewerings of our foibles and cultural conundrums. Issue after issue, each Fold-in requires the reader to simply fold the page so that arrow A meets arrow B to reveal the hidden gag image, a simple idea that masks both undeniable artistic ingenuity and comic timing. In this deluxe four-volume set The MAD Fold In Collection: 1964 2010 Book Set, each of the 410 fold-ins is reproduced at its original size, with a digital representation of the corresponding “folded” image on the following page.”
