Chester Deerskin Gloves

Chester Deerskin Gloves

Chester Gloves, a family run business based in Dorset, have been keeping fingers warm and protected since 1937 so we guess they know a thing or two about creating the ideal pair of gloves. These are constructed from deerskin all the way from North America and lined with a soft fleece to keep things cosy in harsh weather. The pop stud strap transforms them from work gloves to something a little smarter and the rather fetching shade of yellow will mean you might be that touch more visible whilst riding your bike or just taking a midnight stroll. Over at 3939.

Heritage Research Waxed Hunting Jacket

We know that anything related to ‘manyly all-American pursuits’ might elicit a little sigh from some of you. Nobody would recommend going for head to toe woodsman unless you spend at least 5 hours a day chopping wood and hanging out with bears. However, this Green Wax jacket from Heritage Research is just plain and simple goodtimes. Based on a 50’s model worn by JFK, this one has the presidential seal of approval. Internal rear hunting pockets give you plenty of scope for carrying all manner of large items on your person and the reinforced shoulders means that whether balancing a rifle or carrying an expensive manbag you’ll be well protected. Find it at Superdenim.

Anachronorm Autumn/Winter 2011

Thanks to UNION L.A for these shots of the latest Anachronorm offerings. Another Japanese label to get embarrassingly excited about, this collection is full of gems. Particularly strong on shirting (the mixed bandana model a favourite), they’ve done an equally impressive job with their various model of pant. A nice mixture of classic and modern, these guys take their cue from vintage whilst keeping things thoroughly contemporary.

Paul Smith Tri-Tone Brogues

Paul Smith Tri-Tone Brogues

The combination of the words ‘Paul Smith’ and ‘Brogues’ is pretty sweet. At some point menswear labels inevitably turn their attention to footwear but more often than not we wish they’d stuck to clothing and left the shoemaking to the experts. Unsurprisingly this isn’t the case with Mr Smith, smart and just the right amount chunky, these Made in Italy brogues are a winner. Tri-tone; black, burgundy and blue, these are of the wingtip variety and feature a cushioned insole, waxed canvas laces and durable sole. Find yours at Park & Bond.

Selectism - lana-del-rey

01. Boys To Men

“I thought it would be fun to listen in as Oscar asked his dad (Glenn O’ Brien) a few questions on the subject of manhood, the differences between the sexes, first girlfriends and, of course, the importance of good looks and table manners.” (Paper Magazine)

02. Meet Lana Del Rey, the New Singer Music Bloggers Love to Hate (Pictured)

“Lana Del Rey, the 24-year-old indie sensation billed to the world — or music bloggers — as the “gangster Nancy Sinatra,” was supposed to give her first official concert tonight at the Box. That show, which sold out in minutes, has since been postponed to secure a larger venue; meanwhile, her first single, “Video Games,” is set for release on October 9. If you’re familiar with Del Rey, it’s probably because of “Video Games,” which went MP3-blog viral (meaning not that viral) in August, or because of the crankiness surrounding her rapid rise to Internet fame. If you’re not, allow us to break it down for you.” (NY Mag)

03. Inky Fingers: Maggoty Lamb gets interactive with Q and learns a little bit of Respect

“Have you ever held an iPhone eight inches from a picture of Kasabian? It’s not a good feeling. In fact, if you were looking for a pithy summation of everything that has ever gone wrong with magazine journalism’s despairing attempts to harness the power/neutralise the threat (delete according to willingness to face the truth) of mobile internet technology, the experience offered by Q’s inaugural “interactive” edition would be hard to better.” (Guardian)

04. UC Berkeley Scientists ‘See’ Movies in the Mind

“California scientists have found a way to see through another person’s eyes.

Researchers from UC Berkeley were able to reconstruct YouTube videos from viewers’ brain activity — a feat that might one day offer a glimpse into our dreams, memories and even fantasies.” (ABC News)

Evil People in Modernist Homes in Popular Films

Selectism - evil-people-modernist-homes-01

A ronseal magazine if there ever was one, ‘Evil People in Modernist Homes’ is the sort of magazine we like these days – niche and collectable.  Exploring the relationship between cinema and architecture, Films include the likes of Blade Runner and Diamonds are Forever. There’s articles too, making it the sort of weird magazine we love to read. Take a look at some spreads after the leap. (Manystuff)

Oliberte Zimbo Boots

Oliberte Zimbo Boots

Premium dark brown leather is used on the Oliberte Zimbo boots. The leather on the upper looks ready to take a beating and show some wear and age. Treat them as you would any boot, which is to say: wear them, beat them and clean them. Need Supply has them.
