Mont Blanc Writer's Edition Carlo Collodi Fountain Pen

Montblanc celebrates the writing of Carlo Collodi’s Pinnochio with a special edition fountain pen under their Writers Edition series. The pen is pretty incredible. The cap is set in champagne colored gold and features a wonderful motif from the book. The nib is set in 18k gold  and engraved with a cricket. Well done.

Aspesi Launches Online Shop with Autumn/Winter 2011 Collection

Italy’s Aspesi has been stamping their mark on fashion for more than four decades. This week, they launched their first foray into the world of online commerce with the Aspesi Online Shop – now open at Aspesi.com. Shoppers will discover full collections for Autumn/Winter 2011 available for purchase.  One excellent aspect of the Aspesi.com online shop is the color picker that helps shoppers narrow down their search criteria when searching for Aspesi garments.

We should note that the Aspesi Autumn/Winter 2011 collection is another standout from the line. Featured are of course both casual and semi-casual garments including blazers, military inspired coats, and very solid puffy jackets that will keep you warm through the coming months. Best of all the collection is well priced. You will not feel too much pain when shopping with Aspesi. Proper menswear for today’s man.

Many more looks from the Aspesi Men’s Collection for Autumn/Winter 2011 after the click.

Paul Smith Embroidered Shirt

The top chest embroidery on this Paul Smith shirt add just enough detail to make it a favorite in-house. It’s an easy wear that will work with all. Check the stitch detailing on the cuffs as well. Goodhood has it.

Video | “PARALYMBIC” A Film By Hugh Lippe For Rochambeau Trailer

15 September 2011, 19.00 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »
http://www.vimeo.com/28876923

We bring you this preview of “PARALYMBIC” A Film By Hugh Lippe For Rochambeau. Look for the full film coming September 14.

Some thoughts from Hugh Lippe on the film: “The idea for a ‘fashion film’ had been kicked around in numerous forms. Unfortunately the ever repeating aesthetic of these left everyone in a negative way.  Often these shorts are shot on the sideline or in between during still photo productions, plastered with stacks of effects exhibiting models posing in and out of their own layered reflection while their hair blows in reverse.  It was these particular creations that inspired the desire to take it out and into the real.  It was a run for the opposite end of the spectrum, a desire to stretch out the idea of a moving portrait, create a pulse, tap into the chaos of the city that so many claim connection.”

Peter Jensen Jumper

Selectism - peter-jensen-jumper-01

We’ve always liked Peter Jensen’s menswear, seeing it as much closer to casual streetwear than crazy fashion. Take this jumper for example, it’s perfectly wearable, especially if you’re not still weird about wearing pink. If you are, just call it washed red. Or salmon, if you’re old school about your pink phobia. (Farfetch)

Converse Jack Purcell Leather Trainer

Selectism - converse-leather-jack-purcell-01

We like Jack Purcell’s but we hate their insoles. So, you can imagine the quandary we’re in (yes, it is a quandary these problems matter) when a new version of the trainer comes out. Especially when they’re in a handsome burgundy leather. Actually, we might have been a tad dramatic a couple of sentences ago – we’d just put different insoles in them. (Crooked Tongues)

Lean Dish by Jon Liow

Selectism - lean_dish

Curated lets us know about this plate. Yeah, we’re into plates now.

“Fanciful chefs and diners need not continue. Jon Liow’s Lean Dish is a minimal, function-focused design that feeatures two subtle ridges raised just high enough and spaced apart enough to support toasty slices of your choice. The concept was inspired by food running together, which not all eaters are into. Instead, the ridges prevent food from touching the other items on your plate. Nicely done.”

Sasquatchfabrix and The Inoue Brothers collaboration

15 September 2011, 15.30 | Posted in Fashion | 1 comment »

Selectism - inoue-brothers-sasquatchfabrix-collab-01

The Inoue Brothers (who we’ve done a feature on) have teamed with another brand we like, Sasquatchfabrix, to create this capsule collection of knitwear. As you can see, it’s a collaboration in the purest sense of two companies bringing what they do best and merging it. Not just the lazy old ’slap your fabric on top of my existing design and call it a collab’ nonsense we see every other day.

The collection itself is a couple of jumpers, a cardigan and some scarves – all mixing in Inoue’s knowledge of knitwear and the design touches we like from Sasquatchfabrix. Take a look for yourself after the leap. (LN-CC)
