Adam Kimmel Suede Sneakers

Selectism - adam-kimmel-sneakers-01

We’re all about inclusion here. What we mean by that is we love both high and low, designer and ‘authentic’. We’ve started to notice some reverse elitism against designer brands doing footwear but hey, if it’s done well, we’re on board. It’s all clothing at the end of the day. And who can say no to good looking pair of chukkas? (Tres Bien)

David Clarke | “Dead on Arrival”

29 September 2011, 19.30 | Posted in Art | No comments »

Selectism - deadonarrivalbowl

Curated lets us know about this:

“Clarke is easily the most prominent avant-garde figure in the area of silversmithing here in the UK and has a well earned reputation for creative thinking and innovation.

Clarke now devilishly takes antique solid silver objects, treasured by many and preserved by museums and ‘messes’ with them. Clarke strips it of its value by allowing lead to erode the silver.

The first in a new collection entitled “Dead on Arrival.” will definitely take the world of silversmithing to a new level.”

ABSOLUT Vodka Pinstripe Crystal Decanter

ABSOLUT Vodka Pinstripe Crystal Decanter

Absolut works once again with Swedish designers, Magnus Skogsberg and Mimmi Smart of Skogsberg&Smart on a bottle that takes inspiration from Savile Row. The hand-cut and engraved crystal bottle/decantur features pinstripe cuts similar to those found on suiting. I think some may see it as just stripes. Either way, the bottle is beautiful and limited to 800 which are signed and numbered by the designers. Expect to pay $1,500 for the Absolut bottle set that includes two matching crystal tumblers.

One Nine Zero Six British Artists Smock

Selectism - one-nine-zero-six-smock-01

One Nine Zero Six is our type of brand. Why? Mainly because it has heritage but it isn’t a heritage brand. They’ve taken a much more forward thinking approach to clothing and, as 2Pac would say, they are appreciated. This jacket is an example of what we like about them, looking to the past but not being overly purist about sticking to it. And it looks nice, which helps. (CHCM)

Siu Yin Chau Cashmere Hat

Selectism - siu-yin-chau-cable-hat-01

We’ll be honest. We just don’t care whether something is knitted by hand and have never understood the use of hand knitting as a sales point. But we do like this Siu Yin Chau hat – because (a) it’s cashmere and will soothe your noggin and (b) it looks good. Anything else is just a nice bonus. (Opening Ceremony)

daft punk coca cola bottles box set 0 Daft Coke: Daft Punk, Coca Cola Bottle and Box Set

For this writer, a fascination and fanboy level love for Daft punk began with this one track that was played inside a video game more than a decade ago. Today, the duo stay in the black under the cover of helmets and lights.

But today, their brand extension passes into a new level with the launch of their box set with Coca Cola. As Snob mentions, “The classic Coke glass bottle comes with gold and silver Coca-Cola logo application and matching Daft Punk bottle crown sitting on top. The silver one is actually 925 silver and the gold one features 18k yellow gold. Hand finished the bottles are sitting in a box designed by Daft Punk. The bottles were of course inspired by the helmets of the electronic duo. The signed box set is limited to only 20 sets worldwide.”

Andersons of Shetland Everest Jumper

29 September 2011, 15.00 | Posted in Fashion | 4 comments »

Andersons of Shetland Everest Jumper

A fantastic crew neck sweater from Andersons. If you’re looking for something that’s going to be as functional as it is good looking you can’t go to wrong with this. Based on the model worn by Mallory’s Everest team, this model had to be light but able to retain heat in extreme cold weather. Pure bred Shetland sheep are known for their incredible wool which manages to do just that, as well as being incredibly soft. Knitted by hand, this is made by a small group of specialists in Shetland. What more could you ask for? Superdenim has it.
