Duvetica's New Milan Store

We love sharing new retail build-outs done right. Duvetica’s new shop set to open next week in Milans keeps the focus on the garments while offering an open walk through. Designed by Japanese architect, Tadeo Ando, drew inspiration for the Duvetica shop from “from tangible materials and extremely linear and simplistic designs.” Inside shoppers will find LCD touch screens and a select number of their garments on display. The 220 square meter shop opens its doors on October 27.

Oliver Rayn’s new Turtle Puffer is a simple jacket that pulls from various inspirations. It is part of their Autumn Winter 2011 collection. What may make it appealing to some is the slim fit cut and leather treatments on the pocket flaps. Something for everyone…

Church’s ‘Shannon’ Derby Shoes

Selectism - Church-derby-shoe-01

We love a good derby. We can’t help it, it’s the granddad in us. The derby wasn’t picked up to the same extent as the brogue, so you can wear these without worrying about looking like you’ve dressed by the internet. You won’t even have to tell anyone it was a website who recommended it. It’ll be our little secret. (Herring Shoes)

+J Heavy Gauge V Neck Cardigan

Selectism - +J-cardigan-01

We don’t think we’ve paid enough attention to the new +J range. We do love the tailoring in the range but the slouchy stuff isn’t to be overlooked. Take this cardigan for instance. It’s as handsome as they come and, given the comfiness, a prime candidate for partner thievery. Just sleep with one eye open when you purchase this. (Uniqlo)

"Haunted Air" Book - Halloween Photographs From 1875–1955

Haunted Air Haunted Air Book Halloween Photographs From 1875–1955, a new book collecting Halloween photography from 1875 – 1955, is an eerie walkthrough more than two centuries of Halloween costume as worn by the normal everyday people of this world. The costumes, documented in Haunted Air Haunted Air Book Halloween Photographs From 1875–1955 through original, never-before-seen photography, walk the reader/viewer into a time when the holiday of costume actually scared people. Look through the sample pages in our gallery and tell us if they creep you out.

For those into the history of Halloween and the common-day costumes, worn, this book may be necessary in your collection. Published by Random House UK. Available from Amazon Haunted Air Book Halloween Photographs From 1875–1955.

Matthew Hilton Small Pencil Holder

Selectism - matthew-hilton-pencil-holder-01

We have a sudden urge to buy more pencils. And before anyone asks, yes we are that fickle. Make an attractive holder of anything and we’ll go and buy more of that item purely to have the holder. Want us to eat more fruit? Make a fruit holder (or a bowl, we’re not fussy). Preferably in danish oiled walnut, like this pencil holder. (De La Espada)

lexdray pop up store 12 Lexdray for Boylston Trading Co. Collection

Boston seems to be ready for a new retail boom with the launch of the new Bolyston Trading Co., a new project spearheaded by good friend, Frank the Butcher. The online only shop (brick and mortar to come in 2012) features a very strong collection of co-works that rival almost any terrestrial establishment in terms of name recognition and growth.

They previewed their forthcoming Lexdray collection; the first to see light of day since the BTC announcement earlier last week. Congrats and welcome to Bolyston Trading Co.

Highsnobiety has more looks and views from the launch in New York City last evening.

Store Visit | Hostem

Selectism - Hostem-Store-Visit-02

[UFC announcer voice] It’s tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime![/UFC announcer voice]. This time we look at Hostem. It’s launched relatively recently but it’s now officially an established store on Redchurch street. Redchurch Street is what an estate agent would call ‘a great prospect of an area’ and Hostem is one of those stores that’s spearheaded the evolution. We remember when it was a mere puppy of a store, take a leap to see how the store’s looking these days.
