The red brick sole (or orange as they say it) on the Armando Carbral grained leather black shoes look damn solid in photos. The grain leather is the winner here. Crisp looking and ready to wear. Wrong Weather has them. Italian made.

William Lockie gets the nod from France’s A.P.C. for a series of proper sweaters just in time for autumn and winter. You have options of colors to choose from. Scottish made from 100% lambswool. Should arrive in A.P.C. as we speak or sooner than later.

Our interesting in colourful clothing has seeped into our love of design, which is why we’re highlighting this book, Inside Havana, on Cuban interiors. Showcasing everything from regular homes, modernist homes and Havana’s oldest cigar factory, the book quite the visual feast. They’ve even got the bars Ernest Hemingway stayed at, the hotel he lived in and the estate he wrote ‘The Old Man and the Sea’. Published by Taschen.

A band-on load of new helmets from Les Atelier Ruby for Winter 2011. The collection keeps the same form factor as all their helmets but gets creative on the colors and patterns found on the exterior. Creative Review have a copy of the new Steve Jobs biography and they’ve shared a few tidbits from it. In one story they go into how the Think Different campaign came around. Here’s a small excerpt:

“Jobs’ fanatical attention to detail is well known but is brought sharply into focus in a chapter dealing with Chiat/Day’s Think Different campaign for Apple. Isaacson reveals that, when presented with an early version of the script for the Crazy Ones commercial (above) by a nervous young copywriter, Jobs exploded “This is shit! It’s advertising agency shit and I hate it.”

Jobs ended up writing some of the lines himself. There was also considerable debate over the Think Different line itself and its grammatic sense. Jobs, of course, won that argument.”

They’re calling them Macbook sleeves but in order to keep everyone friendly, we’ll simply refer to them at 13inch laptop sleeves. The Technicolor series uses the same sourced trucking tarps as all Freitag products do; the difference here is that they stick to the bold solid colors. Well made and environmentally proper.

While we hate to stereotype, there’s something about this jacket that’s very gallic. Not in a bad way, mind – it’s just the sort of item we envision when we think of French menswear. We can see Olivier Zahm wearing this in his office with his shirt nearly unbuttoned and a scarf. You could wear it in the same way, but you might just end up looking creepy and feeling cold. San Francisco’s Golden Bear works two leather numbers for the Engineered Garments collection. The Bedford jacket comes in goat suede or “elite” cowhide. Both look incredibly soft and supple. Is this the first product(s) from Engineered Garments sourced outside of New York City? Nepenthese has them.

Here’s a jacket that’ll leave you getting a little Tweet* with yourself. We’re quite the fans of Sasquatchfabrix, they’re crazy in all the right ways. Take this varsity-esque jacket for instance, there’s a fuzzy wool blend on the body, cowhide leather on the sleeves and gold quilting on the lining. It sounds wrong in text but so right when looking at the finished article. And it’s the sort of thing that’ll allow you to take day off from the styling. Seriously, just wear some denim, a white shirt and you’ll be good to go with this jacket on. (LN-CC)
