Video | A History of the Sky

YouTube Preview Image

Notcot lets us know about this video, which showcases a mosaic look at the sky over the course of a year. Here’s how Ken Murphy, the creator of the video did it. “A camera installed on the roof of the Exploratorium museum in San Francisco captured an image of the sky every 10 seconds. From these images, I created a mosaic of time-lapse movies, each showing a single day. The days are arranged in chronological order. My intent was to reveal the patterns of light and weather over the course of a year.”

Port Issue #4

Selectism - port-issue4-01

Now on issue 4, it looks like Port Magazine has carved out a nice out for itself in the mens market. The new issue features an interview with Lebron James, Alain de Botton prophesizing on porn and a feature on the set with Michael Fassbender. Magculture says it’s taken over Esquire’s mantle. Bold talk, but it’s hard to disagree at the moment.

Sasquatchfabrix for the Inoue Brothers Cardigan

Selectism - inoue-brothers-sasquatchfabrix-cardigan-01

Sasquatchfabrix are one of our favourite brands. The Inoue Brothers are one of our favourite brands. So what happens when you mix those two together? You get a post about it. And some clothes, including this cardigan. The oversized cardigan is always a fiddily one to wear – do you use it as a layer or a jacket? – this one works well as a makeshift jacket. LN-CC has them.

LEAP – Extreme Alpine Pod Living

LEAP - Extreme Alpine Pod Living

Talk about taking it to the next level… that faux knit pattern is killer on the LEAP – an alpine living “pod” mounted on the side of your mountain of choice. Our friends at Gear Patrol explain it best: “Each LEAP is comprised of up to five modular living units, plus a biological toilet.” Everything about the LEAP is interesting: from the thermally isolated inner door to the rescue equipment area. Sick view…

One thing that does not look to comfortable are those beds. If you plan on living on the side of a mountain inside a luxury pod, you better sleep well. The LEAP is Italo-made.

A Kind of Guise – The Kilim Project – Middle Eastern Rug Bags

A Kind of Guise - The Kilim Project - Middle Eastern Rug Bags

A strange title trying to describe these Middle Eastern rug bags from our friends at A Kind of Guise. Not too long ago the brand made a run to the Middle East and purchased a wide selection of rugs from various countries. When they returned, the re-imagines the rugs into rucksacks; each with incredibly distinct looks and feel. As a fan of Persian rugs, I would have found this disruptive if not done so well. 100 bags are available from A Kind of Guise.

TOMS Canvas Desert Boots

toms canvas deseet boots 7 TOMS Canvas Desert Boots

TOMS is known for doing some great things, especially their “One for One” deal: for every pair of TOMS shoes that are purchased, the company donates one pair of shoes to a child in need. When it comes to kids, we all need to do our best to assist the future. We’ve been walking and working in the TOMS desert boots for some a minute and while they may not be the most styled of footwear, the casual comfort of the lightweight finish has made then pleasant to wear. The outsole is very bare, keeping you low to the ground with an almost barefoot appeal. As for the price point, they will not break the bank. Worth a look if you are hunting for the bare essentials in a shoe.

They’re available in a variety of colors as well as copper, zince, steel, and plywood facades. On the inside, the Tetra Shed is finished in birch or plaster board. A very interesting design. Porter for Baxter of California Grooming Implements Kit

Porter for Baxter of California Grooming Kit and Bag

Not more than a half decade past, the swinging pendulum of the Head Porter camera pouch on a carabiner was the symbol of Japanese “street fashion” moving into the west. Argue it as you may, but the very few (initiall) who could get their hands on the pouch coveted them. The price was nominal compared to the Porter full-sized bag offerings. Like the GUCCI belt, it was one of those well priced items affordable by all.

Today, things are a bit different. The expansion of Porter pouch love moves into new territory. Take the Baxter of California’s “Grooming Implements” kit, which features a custom Porter pouch shell and three grooming tools: a  nail file, tweezers, and nail clipper – all marked with the “Baxter of California” name. $140 makes this an excellent gift option for the person in your life who needs some upkeep help.
