wiley bros belt 01 Wiley Brothers Hoof Pick Belt

We’d never use this site to gift-hint to loved ones. Never. Seriously, we wouldn’t. But if we were lucky enough to receive this from someone who recently emailed to ask what we wanted then we’d be both surprised and very happy. We featured these guys a while back and return to show this exclusive colourway for Garbstore. Belt makers The Wiley Brothers have been up and running since 1999.

Based in the U.S  they use the finest English Bridle leather for their incredible goods. Garbstore describe “Wiley Brothers 1 1/4″ width hoof pick belts go through a detailed 15-step process ranging from cutting and sizing to burnishing and stitching”. Everything made with much attention to detail, the perfect present for, y’know, whoever.

hr grenson 01 Grenson for Heritage Research Spring Summer 2012

We continue our look at this most excellent of collaborations. Alongside the wingtip previously displayed, 4 more models to add to the list of shoes we need to wear very very soon, this time focusing on Spring Summer 2012. Our favourites have to be the cordovan bowling shoe and chunky loafer, the blue suede model with brick red English Dainite sole is a winner. HR tell us this collection is inspired by British photojournalist Larry Burrows and the general 60s counter culture theme running through Spring Summer. Excellent stuff as usual. After working as design assist at Fredrikson Stallard, Portuguese born, London based designer, Hugo Passos, turned his attention to his own work. Selectism | Around The Web

01. Carl Froch in the ring (Above)

“The man they call “The Cobra” is preparing to bite back. Two-time Super-Middleweight Champion Carl Froch is fighting the formidable Andre Ward on Sunday morning at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City and GQ.com contributor Luke Monaghan was granted unprecedented access to the Nottingham born fighter as he prepared to enter the ring. Whoever triumphs will take the Ring, WBA, and WBC super middleweight titles. Unsurprisingly come midnight, we’ll be in Froch’s corner…” (GQ)

02. Graphic Design in Boystown U.K.

“When did the UK graphic design scene become so gender biased? Was it a gradual thing? How did we miss this? Which leads onto my next question… Why are male graphic designers so damn competitive about every little thing? Where are the designers that value harmony, balance and level-headedness. The ones that don’t need to be constantly self promoting because they don’t shout about everything they do, they just do it… and it works. I’m guessing they’re still around. They’re just being shouted down by the current ‘boyworld’ of obnoxious geek designers, happier running work down than celebrating anything of any real significance.” (Linefeed)

03. Christopher Hitchens, 1949–2011: In Memoriam

“Christopher Hitchens was a wit, a charmer, and a troublemaker, and to those who knew him well, he was a gift from, dare I say it, God. He died today at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, in Houston, after a punishing battle with esophageal cancer, the same disease that killed his father.” (Vanity Fair)

04. Loro Piana: Quarona factory visit

“My favourite room at the Loro Piana facilities was the first one they took us too: a vast warehouse, 50 metres or so high and stretching perhaps a hundred off into the distance. We stood on a metal viewing gallery about halfway up, watching a mechanised robot scoot along and up to coordinates that had been punched in by a researcher outside. He came back with a small plastic crate full of cones of cashmere yarn. The warehouse contains over 250,000 kilos of the stuff.” (Permanent Style)

Passarella Death Squad Translucent ‘Rep’ Jacket

Selectism - passarella-rep-jacket-01

Translucent? See-through? Diaphanous?* Whatever you want to call it, this is Passarella’s newest jacket. Inspired by the jacket worn by ‘Rep’ in Blade Runner, it’s made in Italy and available for SS12.. It’s exactly the sort of thing you’d wear when you’re in a hellish view of the near future, giving someone the almighty runaround. Or down the pub on a rainy day. One of the two.

Selectism - picnyc-table-01

Made by Haiko Cornelissen Archtecten, this PicNYC table is designed for the urban farmer in you. Or maybe it’ll inspire the urban farmer in you, it’d be hard to ignore it with grass on your table. The grass is meant to offer the experience of picnicking inside, and you’ll have to do upkeep on the grass  – which will be fun depending on how green your fingers are. (Architizer)

James Perse Heathered Funnel Neck Sweatshirt

16 December 2011, 21.00 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

James Perse Heathered Funnel Neck Sweatshirt

We pulled this one from the James Perse Resort collection for me. This heathered funnel-neck sweatshirt is made in Los Angeles, as much of the Perse collection. The sweatshirt features a loose funnel neck kangaroo jump pocket on the front and a raw edge detail on the cuff.

At $175, this sweatshirt is on the higher end of the spectrum, but well worth. Perse is known for killer basics. This is no exception. Think comfort, softness, and a premium casual garment. Find James Perse online.
