The Huntsman Group, Alfred Sargent for Nepenthes Shoes & Boots

nepenthes shoes 01 The Huntsman Group, Alfred Sargent for Nepenthes Shoes & Boots

Nepenthes and Alfred Sargent have finally got it together. They’ve designed two pieces of footwear,  drawing together their considerable talents for one style each of shoe and boot.

A strong Scottish Ghillie feel with the laces, as Nepenthes describes; ‘The Huntsman group features a hybrid Norwegian and Goodyear welted construction, a unique premium leather upper and a rubber commando sole.’ We really like the slightly off beat choice of style. We’re all for sticking with the well known classics, but it’s nice to see a collaboration throw up something a little unexpected.

Studio Love “Separation Shelf”

split shelf 04 Studio Love Separation Shelf

Christmas. A time for caring and sharing. It’s also the perfect opportunity to start an argument and split up with your loved one. With the high rate of break ups around the festive season, Studio Love’s decidedly unromantic shelf system might be a great way to say ‘I think it’s time to go our separate ways’. 2.5 meters of lump timber marked with grooves, the shelf fixes to the wall as one piece. When all is well, you’ll both stack your assorted collectibles on each side as if nothing is awry.

Then, in the event of a break up the shelf supports can be used to split the shelf 50/50 or in unequal parts if one of you is feeling particularly churlish. Enough to make your heart melt right? Find it as Studio Love.

Selectism | Around The Web

Selectism - hazelnut-macarons-with-nut

01. Hazelnut Macarons with Nutella (Pictured)

Some more delicacies we’d love to try. You’re free to send any leftovers our way, Emily. (What Emily Ate)

02. Wiley shoots for Christmas number one

“The infamously prolific Wiley will close one of his most prolific years yet with a Christmas song.

Titled ‘Cheer Up, It’s Christmas’, it’s about appreciating what you have at Christmas rather than envying what you don’t. In the grime godfather’s own words, “in the black community – I suppose it’s any poverty-driven community – we can either love [Christmas] and accept what’s going on, or we envy our friends at school and we wish we had everything.” (Fact)

03. The Top 50 Albums of 2011

Prepare to get righteously angry about something that doesn’t matter in any way, Pitchfork have released the first half of their top 50 list. (Pitchfork)

04. Froch: ‘I’m not scared of taking a hit’

“Carl Froch will be able to legitimately call himself the world’s No. 1 super middleweight should he emerge victorious Saturday night at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J., in the heady conclusion of Showtime’s Super Six super middleweight tournament (9 p.m. ET/PT).

Having previously dispatched Andre Dirrell, Arthur Abraham and Glen Johnson in Super Six battles, Froch, 34, will face fellow world champion and favored Andre Ward (24-0, 13 KOs) in the final. Froch (28-1, 20 KOs) recently set aside a few minutes to catch up with ESPN.com and warn anyone considering him an underdog to do so at their own peril.” (ESPN)

Vipp Annual Color 2012 – Copenhagen Green

Vipp Annual Color 2012 - Copenhagen Green

The Danish capital of Copenhagen is the inspiration for Vipp’s annual color for 2012. The shade of Copenhagen green is a tribute to the “ cityscape of historical architecture, with oxidized copper roofs and statues overlooking countless small, evergreen city oases.”

Copenhagen is also where Vipp has installed their first flagship shop. A variety of goods are available in the Copenhagen green including trash cans, dispensers and more. Well worth a look at the clean and simple design of the Vipp 2012 Copenhagen collection. ps: Vipp’s been in the business since 1939. Nice.

“Out of the Box!” Book

Selectism - out-of-box-01

As we’ve mentioned before, we’re not into exclamation points on books. All that enforced jollity gets us down.

Especially during Christmas and New Years, when our E.J. levels are being drained by family members we barely like. Exclamation point aside, Out of the Box! Out of the Box! Book does look good. It focuses on ‘brand experiences’ – looking at everything from temporary pop-up shops to flagship stores – and how brands show their identity. Published Gestalten. Available from Amazon Out of the Box! Book.

ts(s) Italian Tweed Chesterfield Coat

Japan’s ts(s) delivers their take on the chesterfield coat, which Por Vocacao lists as being made from “high end double face wool.” High end wool and all, the coat looks great and more than perfect for the mid height shopper. The coat features a ribbed shawl collar and double breasted closure. Did we mention the Italo-tweed?  We hope you still have some shopping to do.

Selectism - calabrese-zip-wallet-01

Planning to break up with a boyfriend but don’t want to do it just yet? Don’t worry, we won’t judge you. Start slow, get him a cheap but nice gift. That way, when you break up with him on the 27th, you’ve still got enough money to go out on New Year’s Eve.  From CalabreseOi Polloi has it.

Marni – Sporty Jacket

Selectism - marni-sporty-jacket-01

Ignore the upcoming H&M range.  Anything made for H&M is similar to Marni’s mainline in looks only. We’re a little confused by the collab as Marni’s calling card is their use of fabrics – this jacket’s made of alpaca and leather – and high quality construction. Anyway, enough scrooge-esque moaning from us, this is a lovely coat.
