Mark McNairy Country Brogue Shoes

Selectism - mcnairy-green-suede-brogue-01

It’d be lazy to bring up Elvis but *puts on ‘blue suede shoes’ and yells green over the parts where he says blue* it’s pretty apt right now. It’s rare we see anything entering stores in December, it being the end of the season and all. Despite this, a heap of McNairy custom makeups just come into End – with these green brogues being the pick of the bunch.

realm empire 01 Realm & Empire Spring/Summer 2012 Lookbook

We take a look at Spring Summer 2012 from Realm & Empire. The newcomer British brand has taken inspiration from one  Mr. Winston Churchill for their rather patriotic collection.

Modern clothing gets a wartime makeover with quotes and imagery created from the labels work with The Imperial War Museum. An exclusive partnership fuelled by director  Stephen Gill’s fascination with goings on at The Churchill War Rooms in London, much of the archive material is original and unique to both the label and IWR. More to come from .

Yuketen Autumn/Winter 2011 Shoes

yuketen ln cc 01 Yuketen Autumn/Winter 2011 Shoes

LN-CC present some Autumn Winter action from Yuketen. The American-Japanese company continues to offer some incredible hard-wearing footwear for those who like their shoes as far away from slim and sleek as possible.

Vibram lives on, joined by the zig-zag sole for anyone averse to that bright white grip. The leopard print boat shoe is loud, proud but somehow doesn’t make us think of Joan Collins. Of course the usual styles continue with work boot, moccasin and hunting shoe inspired creations.

honda scooter 01 Honda Motocompo Electric Scooter

Inhabitat tell us about Honda’s take on the electric scooter. First produced in the 1980s, they’ve revamped the motorcompo for a modern audience with an open-mind towards all things battery powered.

Displayed at the Tokyo Motor Show, the one  meter high, one meter wide scooter has a removable battery, smartphone docking station and folds down to a portable size just in case a getaway on foot is required. While you might get a few confused glances on this one, it’s undeniably an interesting looking piece of kit.

Video | Olubiyi for Coggles Street Style Films

http://www.vimeo.com/33339372

Coggles have been snapping the good folk of London for some time now. While street style blogs currently take up *27% of the internet, it’s nice to see a little more in-depth investigation into the more stylish subjects.

With that in mind the store set about picking their favourites for a series of skillfully shot films. We’re introduced to the well dressed Olubiyi, a student at Central St Martins whose work is heavily influenced by his hero Jean-Michel Basquiat. Film director Terry Hall catches the man at work.

Selectism - yael-mer-shay-alkalay-01

01. Yael Mer and Shay Alkalay (Pictured)

“Product designers Yael Mer and Shay Alkalay launched their studio Raw Edges in 2007. After having studied together at London’s Royal College of Art and working collaboratively on a design project in China, Yael and Shay knew it was about time to start their own thing. The Israeli couple have a very unique approach on design –utilitarian but at the same time playful and outstandingly creative. When you look at the duo’s exceptional furniture, you can tell how much imagination and ingenious talent emerges from the fusion of Yael and Shay’s minds.” (Freunde Von Freunden)

02. Combat Jack on Loon, Pt. 1

(Note from us: This isn’t new, but it’s still very interesting). “It’s not supposed to be like this, you know. As I’m watching the Al Jazeera clips this weekend with Amir Junaid Muhadith wax poetic, beard, kufi and robes in place, I’m thinking how much of an actual superstar he really is, is supposed to be. Chauncey Hawkins that is, the man I know as Loon. Out of almost everyone I represented in the music industry, Loon was probably the most natural, the most likely to succeed, as they say. The only thing making sense is that he is actually on national television. Not that converting to Islam is anything out of the ordinary for rap artists. Just the whole thing playing out like a scene from a bad movie. Then I start playing the movie back from the beginning.” (Daily Mathematics)

03. The artist now known as Prince remembers glyph fondly

“Prince is set to bring his royal badness to Canada this week for this most in-depth tour of Canada since 2002.

The Welcome 2 Canada trek, a continuation of a North American tour which began nearly one year ago, finds the seven-time Grammy Award winner at his peak in terms of performance. His concerts regularly run close to three hours, with no shortage of notable moments from his band, the New Power Generation.” (Vancouver Sun)

04. UFC 140: Jones vs Machida

“”UFC 140: Jones vs. Machida” is an upcoming Ultimate Fighting Championship event, scheduled to be held Dec. 10, 2011 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. The main event is the light heavyweight championship match between Jon Jones and Lyoto Machida.” (ESPN)

‘James’ Side Table

Selectism - james-side-table-01

Notcot lets us know about this multi-functional side table. We feel a little square-like talking about side tables but hey, we all need one right? And yes, need is the right word. This one has a mini compartment to hide old/undesirable looking magazines and newspapers away, making sure no one need know about your secret FHM habit. (Gridy)
