Sandqvist Knife Bag and Apron for Chef Ekstedt – Khaki

ekstedt canvas 01 Sandqvist Knife Bag and Apron for Chef Ekstedt Khaki

We brought you the first installment of this collaboration between C-Store , Sandqvist and Ekstedt in an earlier post. Here we feature its Khaki brother.

Both apron and bag made with heavy duty canvas and featuring leather detailing, this one’s for the butcher/carpenter/wild-eyed barman in your life. You see this time round they’ve recruited photographer Salvatore Scappini and the mysterious drinkmaker/chef of back door club Kåken to produce some vodka soaked images in celebration of part two of this release. This guy looks like he could make a mean martini whilst sawing a mini van in half, all kitted out in this tough guy collab.

“Here We Are” – Panos Kokkinias Book

06 December 2011, 13.00 | Posted in Books & Magazines | No comments »

here we are book 01 Here We Are Panos Kokkinias Book

Powerhouse is set to publish Here We Are Here We Are Panos Kokkinias Book, a retrospective of the work of  Greek photographer Panos Kokkinias from 1994-2007. Having studied fine art at Yale and the School of Visual Arts he went on to exhibit worldwide, his central, wide reaching subject matter being his “personal, ongoing obsession with existential subject matter”.

The book Here We Are Panos Kokkinias Book is divided into three sections. ‘Home’ 1994-95, a period which saw him putting himself in front of the lens during troubled times. ‘Interiors’ 1995-96, unusual spaces and ghostly figures. ‘Landscapes’ 1996-2011, nature, countryside and open spaces. Finally ‘Here we are’, a study of the human condition. Concerned with all things psychological, Panos’ work goes far beyond just  his incredible skill as a photographer. Coming February 2012. Available from Amazon Here We Are Panos Kokkinias Book.

wedgwood desk 01 Wedgwood Angled Leg Desk

We’ve talked staplers, pencils and fancy notebooks in past posts. Well you’re going to need somewhere to store these things, no point buying luxury stationary and throwing it the back of a cupboard. This handsome desk over at Schoolhouse Electric & Supply Co. is made in the USA; Portland Oregon to be exact. It takes its design cue from mid-century, danish design – all neat lines and uncomplicated form. A solid maple top is set off by those sharp walnut legs. At the front, a white drawer as well as extra storage, at the back an extra shelf to display all you high quality stamping, clipping and writing instruments.

Official: Jeep shows Wrangler Nautic concepts in Paris

01. Official: Jeep shows Wrangler Nautic concepts in Paris

“For those with a love of the ocean and a heady wind at the sails, there’s the White Jeep Wrangler by Style & Design. Said to be inspired by sailboats, the White is highlighted in chrome, which covers the 20-inch chrome wheels, seven-slat grille, door handles and trunk hinges. The interior is swathed in Navy White leather with wooden-deck-style coverings for the floors, dash, console, doors and gearlever.” (autoblog)

02. Nissan Leaf to get inductive charging, lose its stem in 2013

“Nissan has big plans for the still-budding Leaf. The Japanese automaker lit up its impressive Leaf-powered Smart House at the Tokyo Motor Show last week, but also demoed its wireless charging solution for a much smaller crowd at the company’s Oppama factory. The device uses electromagnetic induction to transfer power between a charging pad and a receiver on the bottom of the car, with an efficiency level between 80 and 90 percent — simply park your EV directly above the system to begin charging, and monitor progress on the ground transmission unit’s control panel.” (engadget)

03. Audi Social Media Spokesman Criticized for Tweeting Behind the Wheel

“An image of a spokesperson affiliated with the auto industry resting an iPad on his steering wheel while driving has created a stir online as automakers ramp up efforts to bring greater awareness to the dangers of using technology on the road.” (mashable)

04. Volkswagen Unveils Its Plug-in Hybrid AWD Cross Coupe Concept at the Tokyo Auto Show

“Volkswagen has just revealed its new plug-in hybrid AWD Cross Coupe Concept at the Tokyo Motor Show, and it displays the direction the company will be heading in its design for future vehicles. We love the raked angles that flow back to the unique taillights, but the really impressive design is under the hood, where VW has packed two electric motors paired with a direct-injected, turbocharged engine and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.” (inhabitant)

Mad et Len Bougie Apothicaire Petit Papiers

Selectism - bougie-apothicaire-petits-papiers-01

Candles. Everyone likes them. They make your house smell nice and are the perfect visual symbol that you’re not a Versace blue jeans wearing teenager anymore. This candle even has the word ‘bougie’ in the title, which makes it both menswear-y and reminiscent of ’90s neo-soul (to our bizarre minds, at least). Buy it for that friend who buys a 56 inch plasma but won’t spend more than fifty on jeans. It’s time he grew up anyway. Por Vocacao has it.

heres your irony back book Heres Your Irony Back (The Big Picture) Book by Raymond Pettibon

Previously an exhibition back in 2006, Here’s Your Irony Back is a collection of Raymond Pettibon’s politically focused drawings. It’s not out until January so it wouldn’t work as a christmas gift. The other reason it might not work as a gift is because the drawings were inspired by September 11th, which isn’t exactly yuletide fare. Coming back to print soon from Steidl.
