Umbro: New Home Kit for England

Another week, another new England kit. These are coming thick and fast, with the last shirt only seeing 8 matches worth of action, an expensive business if you’re looking to have the latest in patriotic sportswear. Out with the old, we spy a little shawl collar, seems even football isn’t safe from trends. As with these Umbro tailored efforts, the kit has a slightly smarter feel to past shirts, we’re a little unsure about the multiple stripe detailing however we’re told it is of historic significance.

“A key feature of the kit is the red striping detail inspired by the famous stripes on the Umbro jacket worn by England manager Sir Alf Ramsey during England’s 1966 World Cup winning campaign. The striping features on all elements of the kit (shirt, shorts, and socks) and is prominent on the reverse of the players’ collar and is clearly visible when turned up.” See it in action on February 29th at Wembley for the friendly with Holland. A date for the unveiling of a new manager yet to be confirmed.
