John Boultbee Elder Street MK1 Jackets from Brooks England for 2012

john boultbee brooks jackets 2012 06 John Boultbee Elder Street MK1 Jackets from Brooks England for 2012

Cycling fans will want to spend some time exploring this gallery. Brooks England gives us a preview of the 2012 edition to the John Boultbee collection of cycling jackets with the introduction of the Elder Street MK1. It is a beautiful mix of old and new tech.

The casual Elder Street blazer is made from Fox Brothers tweed (a Savile Row textile supplier for some time) which has been specially treated to make the fabric water repellant, but the true story lies in the small details: shaped sleeves cut for cycling, an angle storm welt back pocket, a reflective Boultbee strap on the underside, 6mm topstitching…

The John Boultbee Elder Street is meant to look incredible on and off the bicycle while being built tough to work under any environment you are able to safely cycle or walk in. Timothy Everest designed.

Overade Foldable Bicycle Helmets

Designboom points us this work by Partrick Jouffret of Agency 360. Jourffret collaborated with engineer, Phillippe Arrount on concepts for these foldable bicycle helmets. The aim with the packaway helmet is to ease the number of cyclists who do not commute with one (as crazy as that sounds). Originally prototyped in 2010, the Overade helmets look to be headed to production this year.

Walnut Studios Leather Bicycle Can Cage

Leather Bicycle Can Cage

In the heat of stump speech season, “American Ingenuity” is centered on whatever manufacturing plant a candidate is standing in, but there’s a spring well of the stuff on Etsy year-round. Case in point, this Bicycle Can Cage that comes our way. It does not take much explaining to make the sale: a handsome leather drink holster that sits right where you need it. That it looks like a deconstructed football is just icing. Beer is probably going to dominate it’s useage, but the Cage’s Etsy page notes that a flat can of Coke is a cyclist’s secret weapon—a splash of sugar and caffeine to push you up and over the last hills. -jt

Lewis Leathers ‘The Super Jet’ Helmet

aviakit helmet 01 Lewis Leathers The Super Jet Helmet

You can’t buy a helmet if you don’t own a motorbike. We asked ourselves the question when we saw this. We wondered, ‘what if we buy it and just carried it around on our arm, nobody need know that our main mode of transport was an Oyster card’. Then we considered that, even if everyone else fell for it, when we lay our head down at night we’d be haunted by our Motorcycle lie, shamed by our unnecessary purchase. If you do own a bike then lucky ol’ you. Go out and grab this, the return of a classic. “Originally known as the Trackstar Super-Jet when it first appeared in 1958, the Super Jet, with its sleek  lines soon became a the #1 helmet amongst the Ton Up Boys of the day.” Find it at Lewis Leathers.

Hufnagel Porteur City Bike

15 December 2011, 16.00 | Posted in bike | No comments »

hufnagel 01 Hufnagel Porteur City Bike

Jordan Hufnagel likes bikes. He rides them a lot and when not spinning around Portland Oregon he’s designing and building them. His latest project is the Porteur/City bike, the result of a years work to create his perfect bike. As you can see it’s pretty good looking but we’re told it’s also a joy to ride. But seriously, look at it,  handsome right?

Anyway, this features “a custom fitted hand built frame, fork, stem and rack. All designed to have a clean look and intuitive function.” A lot of the bits n’ pieces that make up the frame were made in Jordan’s own house with much love care and attention no doubt. It’s a limited run and if you’re looking for a Christmas present to make everyone elses efforts seem pathetic then this is it. More over here.
