Selectism - J Brand Denim Co. Mens Relaunch August 2008

Denimology is reporting that California based denim line, J Brand is re-launching their men’s offering this coming August as the J Brand Denim Co.

Working under the rules that mens denim is not produced in the same manner as women’s, J Brand has hired on Denim Revival’s Sean Hornbeak to ensure they get it right.

With the expected $200 median pricepoint and full manufacturing inside the USA (including the denim itself), J Brand Co. should make a solid mark on the premium denim market.

Mastermind Japan Windstopper Blouson

It is incredible seeing Mastermind Japan going into their 11th year and still you will hardly find any goods by the brand that are not black and do not carry the skull and bones logo. The drive to deliver superior quality with a subtle aesthetic just seems to work.

Here we give you a look at some of the first releases out of their Spring/Summer 2008 collection. A nice new windstopper blouson, skull denim pants, cap, scarf, ties and also a Fragment Design x Base Control underwear collection. All these goods are now available at Cliff Edge.

After the jump you can check out the rest of the pieces.

Atelier La Durance Novelty Jacket

08 January 2008, 19.53 | Posted in Denim, Fashion | No comments »

Atelier la durance

The concept of Atelier La Durance is something we can understand and support 100%. Choose one thing and become the best at it. The French brand has chosen the denim sector and creates since day 1 outstandind denim and since then slowly increases their collection every season without ever dropping an item from previous seasons. Now they offer denim pants, jackets, cashmere knitwear and accessories in premium leathers.

The latest item by the brand that we came across, is the Novelty Jacket, a modern take on the classic workwear jeans jacket. The cut, pockets as well as collar are unfamiliar to the classic denim jacket, but give this model its distinct and sharp looks! By the way, all denim used by the brand comes from Japan, thus quality is ensured!

Pepe Jeans x Andy Warhol

26 December 2007, 17.24 | Posted in Denim | 1 comment »

Pepe Jeans x Andy WarholAfter Levi’s and Japanese brand Hysteric Glamour, Pepe Jeans now also announced a collaboration with the Andy Warhol Foundation (via NY Observer). It seems like Levi’s has got the franchise on the US market, Pepe Jeans in Europe and Hyteric Glamour in Japan. On a side note, we have also seen Burton this year bring out an extensive collection of both clothing and gear, covered in artwork by the artist.

We cannot say that we are overly excited about the Pepe Jeans news. How many jeans can one make with Andy Warhol artwork? Already the Levi’s collections were a disaster and practically unwearable, it will be interesting to see what Pepe Jeans makes out of it and anyways, since when is Andy Warhol an important reference in the denim market? Leave his artwork alone and don’t slap it onto denim all over the place! That’s at least our opinion!

Levi’s Fenom 505 Crystal Disco Decoration

Levis Fenom 505 Crystal Disco Decoration

The latest pair of Levi’s Fenom denim has dropped in Japan, the 505 Crystal Disco Decoration. The Swarovski crystals have been applied in a floral pattern on the back of the denim. Otherwise you find the usual Levi’s Fenom characteristics. We were never huge fans of Swarovski stones on clothing or denim, therefore we will not judge this latest Fenom release. But Levi’s Fenom fans should be a bit used, since there is usually some crystals on the denim.

They also released some subtle flannel western shirts along with the denim. Both the denim and the shirts are now available at Tab Device and other Levi’s Fenom dealers in Japan. Check out the shirts after the jump.
