Tanner Goods for Holden Polaroid Camera Case

Case 1 Tanner Goods for Holden Polaroid Camera Case
As we reported here last week, one of our favorite road trip/party/bedroom accoutrements—the Polaroid SX-70—is getting polished up and put in a useful, good-looking kit, thanks to a collaboration between outerwear mavens Holden and analog saviors, The Impossible Project. Now we’ve got some details on the camera case, which is itself a little collaboration between Holden and Tanner Goods—Portland fabricators of heritage leather.

Made from domestically sourced, vegetable-tanned English bridle leather, the hand-stitched camera case should easily outlast anything you put inside it. Of course, it’s meant to hold the SX-70, and, to that end, features a special sleeve pocket for film. Close it all up with a leather flap fitted with a brass knob closure, and you should be very happy indeed.

“[This] is, in essence, everything we love about a collaboration,” Co-Founder and Creative Director of Tanner Goods, Sam Huff, says of the project. “Aside from all of us being fans of the Polaroid medium, the camera itself is one of those iconic designs that is one of our all-time favorites … While Holden and Tanner Goods create products for different markets, we both share a few important ideals: durability, utility and craftsmanship.”

Sennheiser RS 220 Wireless Headphones – The New Standard?

27 January 2012, 19.00 | Posted in Gadgets, electronics | No comments »

sennheiser rs220 wireless headphones 1 Sennheiser RS 220 Wireless Headphones The New Standard?

Sennheiser is touting their new RS 220 ($600) Wireless headphones as playing in the same league as their Sennheiser HD 600 Sennheiser RS 220 Wireless Headphones The New Standard? series wired headphones – which themselves are considered industry standard in entry to mid-level audiophile headphones. The idea that a wireless headphone such as the RS 220 could compete on this level is a high step forward in technology itself. The drive inside the Rs220 is actually the same driver in the HD650. That in itself is big, big news.

The conversation regarding the Sennheiser RS 220 v. Sennheiser HD 600 has already begun on the fanatic forums. We ourselves are desperately awaiting a review pair to compare to our own set of HD 650 Sennheiser RS 220 Wireless Headphones The New Standard?, just one small step up from the 600. The RS220 comes priced at around $600, just about $250-$275 more than the wired HD600. If they can indeed pull off the high end sound of their wired brothers, the RS220 may be this year’s headphone game changer.

For an excellent Sennheiser wireless headphone for half the money, consider the Sennheiser RS 180 Sennheiser RS 220 Wireless Headphones The New Standard?.

KRAVIS 01.jpg George Kravis Collection at the Smithsonian

Media mogul George Kravis has been collecting beautiful objects for years now. Having owned several radio stations at one stage in his life he now sits on the board of the Philbrook Museum in Tulsa Oklahoma, where a portion of his incredible collection resides. His specialist subject is early to mid twentieth century American industrial design, particularly those streamlined objects that came out of the depression era.

As Coolhunting describes “it was a movement based on endowing basic, domestic objects with a sleek, aerodynamic style that belied an optimistic interpretation of the future”. From radios to lamps, furniture to kitchen gadgets, these incredible products hark back to a time when form was as important as function. To see a small selection of George’s collection check out the ‘Stamps of approval’ exhibition at the Smithsonian Castle, Washington D.C until 29 April 2012.
