More from Pitti Uomo: SWIMS showcases their AW2012 rain ready footwear collection. Autumn brings a new round of weather proper footwear with “Seduce the Rain” being the mantra. Galoshes and overshoes are updated and look better than ever. Look who’s in a good mood this season! Mark McNairy delivers his Autumn Winter 2012 collection with a “smile.” The new collection ditches the “Fuck Off” sole for the smiley face. We’re hoping next season we get the “acid house” smiley soon. Fans of McNairy will enjoy new mixed leather wingtip boots, blue commando soles, and more. Dig in.

Italy’s Car Shoe has received love from us a handful of times. Pitti Uomo offered us the opportunity to browse their side selection of footwear for both proper driving experiences but also the normal day to day walk about. Where to begin is difficult which is why we highly recommend spending some time in our gallery looking for your favorite.

We take a look at what’s on offer for Spring Summer 2012 from Sweden’s Gram. “Gram is all about making sophisticated sneakers…Our roots lie in the Scandinavian design aesthetic; design with clean lines and attention to details. Each model being unique in its own simplicity.”

Their prize shoe for the season is the 380g Insjöns navy runner shown above. The heavy duty linen fabric is created by Anette, weavers of incredible textiles since the 40s and suppliers to the Swedish Royal Court no less. Consider this a preview of our forthcoming full look at the Red Wing Autumn Winter 2012 collection. This six-inch Brogue Ranger boot, in two colorways, are sharp choices for the those looking to refresh in 2012. Should deliver in stores around August.

“The 6-inch full brogue was first designed as a country walking shoe specifically created for use when crossing wetlands and bogs. For the people in Red Wing and the surrounding areas, heading outside often meant trekking through the Minnesota wetlands and river basins. People needed a boot that could withstand constant exposure to water and a boot that, when wet, would not break down and hurt a person’s feet.”

Velour delivers us a preview of their Autumn Winter 2012 boot with the Clarks Originals collection. The boot goes well beyond the usual colorway plays. Patchwork and woven leathers are contrasted with oily nubucks and deep browns and greens – all of which pull from Velour’s Scandinavian roots. Delivers in stores around August 2012. We return to Rider Boots, this time via Leffot. These Chukkas are just on the right side of chunky, perfect in black, with a textured leather setting the whole thing off. Footwear appropriate for all occasions: denim times, work times, hanging out with your friends at your local hostelry times. “With black large pebble grain calfskin, known by Rider as “Inca”, and welted Sestriere soles, these are unique, sleek, and durable all at once.”

Diemme Boots continues their mountaineering charge for Autumn 2012. The Italian footwear line plays further with their boot forms adding and mixing melton wools and leathers against a series of boots. Desert wing-tips are also in play (in our gallery), though we’re still on the fence on how well they work in this form (the Diemme wingtip mountain boots worked better this current AW2011 season). We covered Turms back in Aug of 2011. Today we revisit the Turms collection of shoe care kits, foot stools and wooden shoe boxes – easily some of the more beautiful indulgences in the footwear game (without actually producing a shoe) that we viewed here at Pitti Uomo. Italian walnut is used throughout their furniture and stands. Very much for the man in your life who takes footwear as serious as these guys.

Austria’s Zonkey Boot is another hidden gem found at Pitti Uomo. The young shoe line, which delivered their first collection to retail in February 2011, produces their fine footwear in Northern Italy. Many of the silhouettes in the collection feature hand-welted construction as well as seamless finishes on the upper that should be examined in person.

Case in point is the seamless construction on their alligator leather derby boots. Nuff said. Zonkey Boot is available in Europe with future expansion into other territories soon.
