Now available at Por Vocação is this new twist on Maison Martin Margiela’s Replica sneaker (itself a riff on the classic Adidas Samba). We definitely like what’s going on here: woven canvas fabric with lots of pixel squares washing over the toe, giving the impression that you’ve kicked in a flatscreen and pulled back digital remnants. Bonus: you can wear these without laces, thanks to some stabilizing straps on the tongue. Other than that, what more can we say? These gems speak pretty well for themselves.

From Axl Rose to AC/DC, Metallica to The Rolling Stones, Converse has made a name for itself by joining forces and creating distinct shoes with some of the biggest and most innovative musical groups in the past few decades. For 2012, Converse has teamed up with the virtually based but very real and very famous Gorillaz, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their self-titled debut album, and the release of the Converse signature, ‘Three Artists. One Song’ – an original track titled ‘Do Ya Thing’ featuring Gorillaz, James Murphy and Andre 3000 of OutKast.

Releasing on February 23rd are four unique design concepts, which combine the iconic Chuck Taylor All Star silhouette with the award-winning designs of Gorillaz co-creator, Jamie Hewlett. Each exclusive design incorporates elements from their groundbreaking artwork creating a distinctive collection inspired by the band.

The collection features military inspired camouflage print, taken from the cover of their self-titled debut, a black/brown canvas hi-top in the same military vein, and others with a collage of images from their album artwork created specifically for this collaboration.

This summer, Amsterdam’s Tenue de Nimes delivered a well received hand dyed indigo Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Low. The sold out of the short run in no time. We heard talk that they would be back again in high-top form and here they are. As Highsnobiety tells us, “50 pairs of the shoes were dyed by the Manabe family from Okoyama – owners of Japanese denim label Momotaro and the Rampuya dyeing factory. The shoes, each of which is unique and hand-numbered, will be available November 26th at Tenue de Nimes.”

Some people queue for Jordan III’s, we camped outside of Goodhood waiting for this collab. We didn’t actually do that but we would have, the collaboration is that nice. One of our favourite picks are these Chucks with a fur lining. Or as T-Pain would say, Chucks with the furrr (with the furrr!). Our only issue is that these don’t come in our size. (Goodhood)

And we’re continuing our Japanese love fest with these Attachment trainers. Or sneakers if you’re fancy (or American). If you’re positive you’ll say this are a fresh update on a classic. The Nike CR7 collection brings a slice of Ronaldo inspired sportswear to the table. Not a hotpant or man-purse in sight, the collection includes tees, sweatshirts and polo shirts to accompany his signature boot. As Oregon HQ explains, the “CR7 collection reflects Cristiano Ronaldo’s distinctive style. For the first time alongside his Mercurial Superfly boot, Nike introduces a complete CR7 collection blending the most innovative training and lifestyle products.” We take a specific look at the apparel from the collection. Our friends at James Perse continues their great work with the Seavees line of footwear. Their latest work comes in the form of a brush suede lace-up court shoe; a slight change from the Perse/Seavees slip-on offering. California 60’s style remains the theme. The eyelet guides show off a subtle detail. Clean and wearable by all.

We once heard someone say that all ‘designer’ sneakers are terrible. We beg to differ. Take Mr Kimmel’s offerings for instance. They’ve been consistently great for a while and this chukka is a perfect example of why designer sneakers have something to offer. And it’s on sale, which is nice. (Colette)

Tres Bien let us know about Common Projects latest collection, New Editions. From the little info we have, it looks like it’ll be a diffusion line using primarily canvas and suede instead of the CP leather.
