Nike All Court Canvas

Selectism - nike-all-court-red-01

We can never go long without putting up a pair of Nike’s up here. We like the suede versions and all, but they’re not really spring ready, nawmean? These canvas versions have all the colour one would need on their feet and won’t get ruined in the rain. (Tres Bien)

Dries Van Noten Panelled Trainers

08 March 2011, 11.30 | Posted in Sneakers | 1 comment »

Selectism - dries-van-noten-trainer-01

We’re all about the footwear this morning. This time it’s a more casual pair of trainers from Dries. It’s more of a wardrobe-improver than a game-changer but it looks good – and that’s all we want from a trainer. It is Dries Van Noten though, so expect the price tag to reflect that. You’ve been warned. (Farfetch)

Paul Smith Ibsen Trainers

Selectism - paul-smith-ibsen-trainers-01

Hey adidas, can you hear us? Good. We just wanted to say that Paul Smith’s got a very nice looking pair of trainers that look remarkably similar to a pair of Stan Smiths. How about you replicate a replica and sell it for your regular price, you know it makes sense. Is that cool? Cheers. (Ssense)

Nike Zoom Match Classic

02 March 2011, 15.30 | Posted in Sneakers | 1 comment »

Selectism - nike-zoom-match-classic-01In our ongoing attempts to wean ourselves off Springcourts explore other options, we’ve taken a look at these Nike Zoom Match Classics. They’re nice and minimal, just the way we like ‘em – although the green used doesn’t really mesh with the cream colour of the shoe. That aside, we can’t fault them. Give your feet a rest and put away the shoes for a bit. You can be all sprezzywhatever another day. (Crooked Tongues)

Armando Cabral Autumn/Winter 2011

Selectism - armando-cabral-autumn-2011-01

The showroom next door have been showcasing quality goods for a while now and this season is no different. Armando Cabral’s footwear is still a relative puppy in the shoe world, but their take on things have always caught our eye. This season they’ve managed to pull off the unenviable task of making one of those brogued sneaker hybrids not look like the child of frankenstein. Elsewhere, there’s some good looking shoes for the folks who like a bit of colour on their feet.

Take a leap to a couple more models.

Comme Des Garcons Shirt Plimsolls

Selectism - comme-des-garcons-shirt-plimsolls-01

We spoke about these a while back and they’re out now. Made in collaboration with Generic Surplus, these are some good looking trainers. Obviously, they’re best kept for when it warms up a tad. We’re not advocating you start wearing all your spring gear now, that’d make you look overeager for warm weather. Never a good look. (My Wardrobe)

Dries Van Noten Trainers

Selectism - dries-van-noten-trainers-01

If this was an usher song, we’d say these trainers remind us of some Common Projects we once knew. That aside, these do look nice – although we’d be a little worried that they look a little too spick and span, if you know what we mean. We realise we’re not really selling this shoe, so consider this post a slight recommendation. (The Corner)

Needles Sneakers for Spring/Summer 2011

Needles Sneakers for Spring/Summer 2011

Japan’s Needles showcases their trainers for Spring/Summer 2011. We love them. Just about everything that comes out of the Nepenthes house works. Material work on the eyestays (in white) contrasts the leather upper very well. The simple vulcanized sole remains classic throughout.

More looks after the click.
