Levi’s Newbury Street, Boston

Levi's Newbury Street, Boston

Levi’s continues those regionalized build-out. The latest being the Newbury Street shop in Boston, MA. While the Puritans in this city continue to try and keep this city a tight knit contingent of the old guard, many shops are looking to open things up a bit with smart re-works that not only bring new shoppers but brands into a city filled with more than half a million university kids – some ready to buy.

The new Levi’s shop is a maritime inspired affair. You’ll find it at 131 Newbury.

Nudie Jeans Pop-Up at DELI Seattle

Nudie Jeans Pop-Up at DELI Seattle

Following the meat-marker theme, NUDIE Jeans works with DELI in Seattle on a “pop-up” for the Northwest U.S. market. The minimalist build out is “dominated with concrete flooring, typical hanging chains, and utilitarian stainless steel tables serving as counters. The industrial space is complimented by work of emerging Seattle artist Justin Kane Elder and a back mural by Frankie Juarez.” Nicely done. Love the paint “blood” dripping down the drain. Very meat-market. To some a turn-off, though.

Trunk Clothiers: A Catch Up

28 February 2011, 16.30 | Posted in stores | 1 comment »

Selectism - trunk-clothiers-01

Permanent Style caught up with new London based clothing store Trunk. It’s an interesting read, if only for the realisation that there really wasn’t anything like it in London before.

“Indeed, it now seems odd that the model didn’t already exist. Britain’s department stores are so dominated by fashion brands and sportswear that there are few places for small, craft-driven companies to sell to a discerning public. And there are so many great small companies in Europe, Japan and the US to pick from.

Some brands have proved so popular that there is a waiting list system – for Incotex trousers, for example. Nearly all 32 and 34 inch models have sold out and the man who walked away disappointed while I was in the store was apparently only one of many. Let’s hope that these brands don’t just use Trunk as a stepping stone to a wider market in the UK – Incotex is already being sold on the new Mr Porter site.”

lanvin milan shop opens 5 Lanvin Opens Its First Italian Store in Milan

I would have never guess that Lanvin did not already have a stand-alone shop in Italy. That’ all changed though. They’ve announced the opening of their first Italian store by way of Milano. “Lanvin anounces the opening of its first Italian store in Milan, in the famous Quadrilatero della moda… This one occupies the ground floor of a beautiful hotel particulier with character, of more than 100 square meters, at the corner of Via Della Spiga and Via Santo Spirito, both Milanese luxury temples.” Find them at Via della Spiga 25, Milan.

Dover Street Market Window by Egg London

dsm byrony egg window 01 Dover Street Market Window by Egg London

We usually ignore window displays, but when DSM do them we take notice. This time they’ve teamed up with Egg London, installing three plinths of layered clothes. The clothes are a mass of 18-19th century peasant clothing collected by Bryony Thomasson which create a three dimensional montage of Thomasson’s adventures. We like that turn of phrase, we wonder if we can use it to describe when we leave piles of clothes on the floor? No? fair enough.

Take a leap to see close ups of the clothes.

Our Legacy “Observations” Pop-Up in New York City at ODIN

Our Legacy Pop-Up in New York City at ODIN

While Our Legacy can be found in many doors throughout Europe, it’s a bit more difficult to find the U.S. Hopefully this will change but until then, those in New York City can swing by ODIN. Our Legacy has taken up space in ODIN and features a wide range of the look their Spring/Summer 2011. I consider then to be one of the best menswear brands out there. The fit is always on point and cut for modern men.

Selectism - clarks-original-store-02

We know what you’re thinking, another pop-up store? Well this one isn’t a pop-up, per se. It’s more of a takeover. Yep, a takeover. And furthermore, this is the first time Clarks Originals have had a stand alone store, which makes this interesting enough for us to cover. It runs until the 20th and stocks the original suspects alongside some of their harder to find collabs. If you’re in London, drop by.

Address and more pictures after the leap.
