Here’s a montage video from the Warrior of Radness crew filmed in New York City around the CFDA awards. About the most awkward video we have shown in some time. Well worth your time. “Tommy Hilfiger conversation on mushrooms….”

Watch | being|equal Autumn/Winter 2012

22 February 2012, 13.00 | Posted in Fashion, videos | No comments »
http://www.vimeo.com/36734767

being|equal are Londoners, Josh and Rory Kilbride “two brothers focused on the ever-growing desire for detailed fashion design. Their shared passion for both clothing and print design is echoed and developed through being|equal, creating clothing that evokes the senses visually, yet retains the garments’ practical design and quality workmanship.”

We featured their earlier work here as well as in our Jacket Required coverage; their ‘Watercolour’ shirts were among our favourites at the show. We take a look at Autumn/Winter 2012 in this video. Mixing standards – chinos, button downs, parkas – with slightly more offbeat touches in print and knitwear, we recommend keeping an eye on these two.

Watch | Red Wing – ‘Memoirs’ Exhibition, London

Red Wing threw an opening party  for its ‘Memoirs-Good Old Boots‘ exhibition over at American Classics in London’s Covent Garden. “A travelling exhibition highlighting fifteen pairs of Red Wing boots. More than a general overview, this exhibition will not only shine the spotlight on those boots, but also on the very personal, unique stories behind each pair of them, as told by the owners themselves.” A smart video put together by The Hutch captures the nights events. Beer, bikes, beards and boots. Thanks to Sanforized for alerting us.

Watch | The Derelicts – Refashioned Classics

An incredible little film from eGarage focusing on Icon4×4 in Los Angeles who remake classic cars to create something extraordinary. As much about the passion and obsessive attention to detail as the car itself, its founder Jonathan Ward loves the aesthetic of vintage cars, the more beat up the better, but lost patience with the upkeep that comes with an archaic engine. So, under the hood you’ll find modern workings that allow the car to be driven everyday whilst the outside remains authentically worn and torn. These are the Derelicts. Thanks to Vintage Workwear for the heads up.

Looking forward to Oliver Spencer’s Autumn/Winter 2012 show at fast approaching London Fashion Week, GF Smith take us through the processes behind design and manufacture at the English label. Oliver Spencer himself talks us through the decisions which inform each piece, as we see them take shape in his East London factory.

GF Smith explain, “This series is designed around our conversations with acclaimed craftspeople working in diverse fields. They support our belief that selecting the perfect materials is a critical part of the creative process.”

Watch | Dior Homme Spring/Summer 2012 by Willy Vanderperre

13 February 2012, 12.00 | Posted in Fashion, videos | No comments »
YouTube Preview Image

A Willy Vanderperre production always worth a watch. He collaborates once again with Dior Homme on Memoir, translating Spring Summer 2012 in his trademark atmospheric style. Bringing to life those Kris van Assche creations, a moody look at what’s to come for the warmer season. We won’t give too much away but there is a rather clammy looking man in a white hat taking centre stage, keep your eye on him.

http://www.vimeo.com/36128995

Hats off to Grain & Gram for this great little video offering a look at the workings of accessories favourites MAKR. Founder Jason Gregory skates, sews and sketches his way through the film and, with the help of his bearded associates, creates those totes, wallets and keyfobs we love so much. All crafted in their Florida studio – unsurprisingly one of those perfect spaces that makes you go ‘ooohhh’ –  this is a behind the scenes look at a small company making big waves. An interview also accompanies the film, we recommend you check it out.

More from MAKR in our archives.

We take a look at part two of the excellent Gypsy Gentlemen Series. Following up on his New York visit, tattooer and painter Marcus Kuhn takes us to Austin, Texas, uncovering the city with the help of fellow artists, Tony Hundahl and Steve Byrne. “The second in a series of films chronicling the travels of the gypsy gentleman. A travel documentary profiling the world’s greatest tattooers and the world’s most fascinating places.” Thanks to Reference Council for the heads up. Catch up with Part 1 here.
