The History of IWC Watches Flipbook

history of iwc watches The History of IWC Watches Flipbook

The History of the IWC Watch Company is told through this great online flip book. Although the book is more of a showpiece for last year’s IWC Collection, it still warrants attention due to its detailed examination of the origins of the International Watch Company from 1868 through the present. Told through a PDF style flip book, the history of IWC is a great one.

Kazimon Eintausend Diver’s Watch with Pelican Case

kazimon eintausend diver watch front Kazimon Eintausend Divers Watch with Pelican Case

I will admit that the Pelican Case and custom case-back removal tool which the Kazimon “Eintausend” Diver’s Watch ships was the “deal sealer” for me. But the more I look into this German watchmaker’s “flagship diving watch,” the more I am attracted to what you actually get for it’s budget price tag of 2033$US.

The “Eintausend” (German for 1000) is almost a steal in some ways. The black diving bezel sits on top of 44mm casing (cut from a high grade stainless steel) that houses a thick 3mm domed sapphire crystal with an AR coating – call it scratch proof for all intensive purposes. You get a 25-jewel Swiss movement, inside a shockproof and antimagnetic construction. The face and hands are coated in C3 SuperLuminova for excellent readability. It’s simply finished with the date between the four and five hour.

As our editor in Geneva put it, “you are buying a diver’s watch with similar functionality to the new Rolex Deep Sea at a 1/5th of the price.” And by golly, they even take Paypal.

tsar watch front SAR/NASA TSAR Tritium Divers Watch

Canadian’s Search and Rescue specialist know how to rock a diving watch. Their SAR Tritium Wristwatch is so good that NASA is now issuing a version for their own diving team. “This watch uses the same 316L stainless case, 120 click timing bezel and saphire crystal as recent model SARs. This is the only Genuine Issue Quartz Tritium Wrist Watch with a Date display today.” Take a look at the bulk of this watch. It features an date reading set between the 4 and 5 hour and a nice thick 27.7mm bezel. It’s a true “U.S. Government” issue watch and features my favorite radioactive symbol. Get it now for 450$US.

linde werdelin two timer biformeter 02 Linde Werdelin Two Timer Biformeter Chronograph

With every watch we feature, we’re finding it more and more complicated to relay how indestructible a timepiece can be. Ablogtoread has just reviewed the latest from Linde Werdelin’s Two-Time Biformeter collection. What the company outputted is clearly a work of power. As ABTR states, “a degree of confidence and a feeling of arduous strength.” The Two Timer Biformeter has two features which distinguish it form the pack – 1. a GMT hand which can be used as a second time-zone indicator and 2. and legibility via the use of Super-LumiNova, an ultra expensive luminant that prices out at about $7 grand per pound.

hublot one million dollar black caviar bang Hublot One Million Dollar Black Caviar Bang

If I was allowed to use large figurative profane words, they still would not describe the monster of a one off Switzerland’s Hublot has pulled out of their little factory. The Hublot Black Caviar Bang is simply nasty on few levels. The casing and bezel are made from 18kt white gold and house exactly 501 black diamonds. 30 more black diamonds lace up the black rubber bracelet. They tossed in a “Hublot caliber HUB Solo T, a 1 minute Tourbillon Volant” movement and a 120hour power reserve. Who’s gonna top this one? Bang on Hublot. (via tz)

Maurice de Mauriac Chronographs

maurice de mauriac watches front Maurice de Mauriac Chronographs

Zurich based watch maker, Maurice de Mauriac is a youngbloog brand in the world of chronographs. Deisgner, and founder Daniel Dreifuss started the line around 2003 and has been producing some find modern day watches with the same skill and craftsmanship as the legends in town. The watch collections are produced in limited runs but we’re very fond of the Automatic and Modern Chronographs show above. The military inspired Automatic in it’s PVD finish sits well against the 42mm casing. The Chronograph Modern gets the same PVD treatment but gains 3mm on casing – 45mm. Both work off the same Swiss movements and are sure to draw the eyes of the attentive connoisseur.

Time is more than limited with this special release from Timex for Japan’s Rehancer. Available mid-December, this classic Timex watch has a sporty outdoor appeal that’s perfect for the urban dweller. Large dial face numbers and a clean black nylon band make this almost too simple. If we’re reading this write, this is an extremely limited ten unit release. Tight!

Grimoldi of Milan has just issued the perfect watch for the goal tenders in our lives. The Monforte Gridded Chronograph is encased in black PVD with a 45mm measurement. It is not too water resistant with a slim 30 meters depth but it will indeed draw the attention of all those around you. It may not be the look for everyone but do not be disappointed when hockey players rock it.
