Newsweek - Mad Men Issue - 1965 Throwback Issue & Cover

Newsweek delivers a special 1960’s throwback inspired cover for this week’s Mad Men cover story. The March 26/April 2 2012 issue of Newsweek features the cover story, “Mad Men Goes Back to the Office” highlighting the show’s fifth season beginning on March 25, a good year and half since the conclusion of Mad Men season four.

But if you thought only the cover was getting the throwback treatment, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to discover that the full issue – from editorial to advertisements – are going back to their original designs as delivered in 1965, Adage reports. We’ll interested to see how things look on the inside.

The Mad Men issue of Newsweek lands on newsstands today.

KJUS – Autumn/Winter 2012 – Aspen Fashion Week

kjus loro piano jacket KJUS Autumn/Winter 2012 Aspen Fashion Week

KJUS debuted their Autumn/Winter 2012 ski collection during Aspen Fashion Week this past Tuesday in Aspen, CO. They’ve been around for some time; they launched their first women’s ski collection back in 2001. Over the decade, they worked on performance ski wear that carried full or 4-way stretch, allowing for the fit and look of their ski pants to carry a fit form without the loss of motion. The same holds true with forthcoming Autumn/Winter 2012 collection.

The quality of their garments is top notch: take their Men’s Corso Como Down jacket, shown above, made with Italy’s Loro Piana, using their waterproof treated Storm System fabrics. This is only one of many examples of high quality garments from the KJUS line of skiwear. Should work of less conscious snowboarder as well.

If you are suffering through amateur hour in one of the world’s many Irish-themed pubs right now, this venn diagram of beer should serve as an amusing reminder that a mere four ingredients are driving those around you into tailspins of regrettable decisions. Pop Chart Lab has a history of mapping the vast varieties of beer in the world and we really like that they’ve turned inward for St. Patrick’s Day. Stay responsible.

Our brethren over at HS turned us on to this whipsmart “Imagine” campaign from German agency Jung Von Matt. Lego replicas of iconic cartoon characters striped to their most base elements. TMNT, South Park, The Simpsons and more reduced to 3D color bars. The essence of artful understatement.

Nike NSW Destroyer Trench Jacket – Made in Italy

16 March 2012, 21.35 | Posted in Uncategorized | 1 comment »

nike nsw destroyer trench 1 Nike NSW Destroyer Trench Jacket Made in Italy
Does this jacket truly destroy? It is trench length, which certainly lends an air of menace. Coal black reigns in the wake of destruction, so two points. The waterproof, vertical zipper pocket can undoubtedly keep your phone dry—not exactly a terrifying feature, but convenient to the point of bad-ass. So alright Nike, we are listening. This jacket of yours just might be a destroyer after all.

“[This] jacket is a superb combination of varsity style bomber jacket upper, with the body and tail of a technical trench coat,” purveyor Oki-ni tells us. We get it; bombers destroy. This cotton and suede killer from the brand’s NSW collection is made in Italy, setting it apart from the rest of the rabble-rousing sportswear pack.
