Selectism - Project LV | Nobis Cork Hats for Autumn/Winter 2010

A cork hat? Yes, indeed.

One of the more intriguing items from Project Las Vegas comes from Toronto-based Nobis. Coming in two styles, these lightweight caps carry amazing texture and individual coloring. The use of cork is in keeping with the brands interest in exploring a wide variety of materials. Previously (and continually) they work in angora and llama wool, hemp, and with several other recycled sources.

In addition, Nobis will continue to offer a range of knit caps.

Further details of Nobis’ autumn/winter collection after the leap.

Paris | ACNE Furniture Sofas

Selectism - Paris | ACNE Furniture Presentation

ACNE’s Jonny Johanssen presented their collection of furniture this weekend in Paris. In Mr. Johanssen’s own words, ”The Nya Berlin was an archetypical piece of Malmsten design and was created for use in the Swedish consulate in Berlin. It has not been in production since 1949, so it was really inspiring to work with. With this sofa as a reference, I started to look at how we worked architecturally, instead of just treating say the upholstery. I decided as an alternative to objectify its form from a perspective play. As we do with fashion we played with proportion, lineage and structure – stretching, squashing and pulling the simplistic shape to create new sculptural forms. and why we chose to dress it in indigo? Denim is our heritage and i thought it was super interesting to treat the upholstery in the same way we approach our jeans – by washing bleaching and hand-dying the pieces to create very bespoke finishes. I just love how the fabric changes and grows with time. For me denim is always fashion…”

Selectism - Stolen Girlfriends Club Autumn/Winter 2010

Australia’s NZ’s Stolen Girlfriend’s Club drops their Autumn/Winter 2010 collection. “Welcome to Nowhere” is the name of the collection as photographed by Guy Coombs. Dunderdon Spring/Summer 2010

Selectism - Dunderdon Spring/Summer 2010

Here is a preview of the forthcoming Dunderdon Spring/Summer 2010 collection which will make its way into their shops later in the year. We have been fans of the Dunerdon outerwear for some time but have never really focused on their casual wear. What we find is a nice mix of Japanese denim with casual tops and button downs – all of which work. The pricepoint is more than proper. Sweden represent.
