The two man army behind 3sixteen continue to produce rather respective menswear in a very difficult market. These men and their team of assistants prove once again that not everyone has to be cutthroat to succeed. 3sixteen’s Autumn 2009 collection extends and refines the brand’s look and feel for a consumer that understands the well mannered nature of the people behind the line. If anything, they have shown their ability to be attentive and aware of the marketplace.

We took a walk over to visit the guys at 3sixteen who kindly gave us a preview of their collection of footwear for Spring 2010. The line has clearly expanded to include a variety of new models – all of which are being produced by the handmade shoemakers at Quoddy. The Grizzly boot is drawing some attention at the moment with its crepe rubber sole.

Two casual Monsoon jackets from NYC’s 3sixteen line. We love the slightly oversized bomber style fit on the jacket and its array of pockets and compartments. The drawstring hood is a great addition as is the full vented back. A day to day staple in or out of the field.

3sixteen dives into footwear with this beautiful collaboration with Main’s Quoddy shoes. Based in Passamaquoddy, ME, Quoddy was founded by Kevin and Kirsten Shorey (third generation shoemakers), Quoddy Trail employs expert sewers who craft each shoe by hand from start to finish. The shoes are made of 100% Chromexcel leather and are fully pigskin-lined for comfort – they also feature a full leather vamp, nickel eyelets, and a handsewn lock-stitched tip and kicker. 3sixteen delivers their lookbook for Spring/Summer 2009 and we simply think this is their best collection to date. The street fashion inspired line has begun to graduate nicely into a modern menswear label that keeps it’s root where they belong while providing looks that provide their customers with something beyond the traditional “printed” fashion. And the fact that the men behind the line are some of the nicest guys on the scene doesn’t hurt.

Travel grooming kits loaded with the necessary products to keep a man looking dapper are some of the more available gifts on the market but finding a kit with some substance is another story. 3sixteen continues to mature as it branches out farther from traditional streetwear fashions into something more in line with contemporary menswear. Their Holiday 2008 Collection is right there featuring melton wool bomber jackets, heavyweight fleece field jackets, and more.

We can now shows you a wider view from a line that is quickly shifting its presence and business into a more cut and sew affair while keeping its designs grounded in traditional steet fashion.
