I stopped using traditional wallets a long time ago. My biggest issue with them was how they allowed for growth; they tend to build up and become tomes of sort; stuffed with every receipt and business card possible on top of the important items like a driver’s license or credit cards. Italy’s VNGRD brand is quickly moving up our favorite’s chart with their Summer 08 Cut & Sew offering. Two pieces that quickly  caught out attention are their belt accessories.

The “Irregular” and “Holed” belts are both handmade in Italy and come in tangerine orange and silver.

The term “man bag” has made it awfully difficult for the average American male to consider some sort of day bag outside of either two choices: an attache attached to their palm, or one of many courier varietals. Unlike their European and Asian counterparts, the day bag simply does not fit with the ideals of a man man.

Our market need a new tradeshow. Project was getting too big and not innovative enough anymore, thankfully the good people from BPMW took it on them and created Capsule tradeshow, with its first time showing last summer in NYC. They return this month and the line-up of brands is super strong- WoodWood, Ksubi, Cassette, Gourmet, Penfield, Staple, Won Hondred, Yoko Devereaux, The Cast, Krane and many others.

The accessory market has exploded over the past couple of years and even for men there is lots of choice out there at the moment. We are big fans of Japanese brand Porter, which is still very hard to come by outside of Japan.

Nevertheless there are some companies out here that do a great jobs. The bag has become also for men an important accessory, to travel or simply to go to work with the laptop. We checked out the brands Moore & Giles and Krane.

Moore & Giles is a brand that has been around over 70 years now. The brand is based in Virginia and creates natural leathers. Now they offer an entire range of bags – laptop bags, tote bags, weekend travel bags and more. The fine leather and smart choices of the mix, is what attracted us the most.

We especially enjoy the large travel bags by the brand. They come in a big range of leather choices and looks great!

Krane is another interesting label, in comparison to Moore & Giles, definitely a more modern take though. Founded in 2004 by by Ken Chow – a graduate of the Menswear program at New York’s F.I.T and who interned with Marc Jacobs and Alexandre Plokhov of Cloak, the label presents a mens fashion line and a bag collection, which we look at now.

Jack Spade released some new accessories for the Holiday 2007 season. As usual the brand presents high quality accessories, a lot of things that one does need and even more that you will never need but still want to have. Among our favorite in the line-up is the Crown Twill Turnpike Brief, a nice weekend travel bag that features leather handles and a waxwear bottom. Also the Embossed Anchor Bill Holder and the nylon collection are something to have a closer look at.
