Alexandre Herchcovitch – Inside the Home of a Fashion Designer

Inside the Home of Fashion Designer, Alexandre Herchcovitch

Looks like The Selby was down in Brasil. The photographer and all around fan of interiors visits the apartment home of fashion designer, Alexandre Herchcovitch, in San Paolo, Brasil. This may well be one of my favorite The Selby profiles in some time. Herchcovitch (and Fabio Souza) left the interior walls of their apartment unfinished. Unlike most white-walled homes that use art and objects as the primary focal point of the eye, Herchcovitch’s are of a rough finished – plaster cracks and chipping remains untouched – which complement the objects. Check that vintage collection as well.

alexandre herchcovitch hint mag Q&A with Alexandre Herchcovitch

Hint Mag caught up with Brazilian deisgner Alexandre Herchcovitch during fashion week in Sao Paulo recently. The well done interview covers a variety of topics and includes insight into Herchovitch’s world. “I started my career as a designer by making clothes for drag queens (not being one of them), prostitutes and transvestites in São Paulo. I dressed the first and most famous Brazilian drag queen, Márcia Pantera. I’ve made more than 300 outfits for her, but today she has none of them.”

Alexandre Herchcovitch For Band-Aid

highsnobiety - Alexandre Herchcovitch for band-aid

Here we have an interesting collaboration between Brazilian designer Alexandre Herchcovitch and Johnson & Johnson. The designer worked on their Band-Aid brand and created two sets of artwork for a limited-edition series of Band-Aids.

"Available from Opening Ceremony in the U.S.A., each box contains ten Band-Aids, of which the creator’s favorite design is an optical black-and-white print. "I’ve been wearing them since the launch, even though I haven’t hurt myself," he tells us. Nelly never had it this good." Via VMAN.

What can we say? We love them… time to get hurt!

Detailed views of both sets after the jump.

Alexandre Herchcovitch S/S 2008

Selectism - Alexandre Herchcovitch S/S 2008

Alexandre Herchcovitch has taken his Spring/Summer runway show back to a darker place. Unlike his past few S/S collections, which remained warm in tone, his 2008 runway is a return to dark colors that blend a variety of fabrics and chemicals to produce an almost black metal view of spring and summer. Clearly, the Brasilian designer is unafraid to buck the trending forecasters in producing a collection is is clearly unique to his vision.

Explore his Spring/Summer 2008 runway show and all his past collections. Do not pass over the video section.
