Givenchy’s creative director, Riccardo Tisci, guest directed  the cover shot for the special October 2011 20th anniversary issue of the great Dazed & Confused magazine. As stated in the announcement, “Many of the models discovered and championed by Tisci present personally chosen pieces from his six-year reign at Givenchy.” Former Dazed fashion director, Katy England, and photographer, Matthew Stone also worked the affair.  On sale this Thursday, September 15

Fondazione Nicola Trussardi has opened the doors on their “8 1/2″ artist showcase and exhibiton – their first outside of Milan. Curated by “Massimiliano Gioni and produced in collaboration with the Fondazione Pitti Discovery” the exhibition brings together 13 artists to re-interpret the idea of flashbacks and deja vus, as borrowed ideas (as well as the show’s title) from Fellini’s “8 1/2″ film. The exhibition was opened in celebration of Trussardi’s 100th anniversary. 50 years ago Arne Jacobsen’s Swan Chair hit the market. This month, Fritz Hansen has reintroduced the design in a special anniversary make-up. The upholstery is white semi-aniline leather. Each chair is numbered, out of 1,958, and sits on a pearl white base.

The chair was first designed for use in the lobby at the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. At core, it is an achievement of modern material, its curvilinear shape made possible by molded plastic. Like much of mid-century design, it’s initial use in public space doesn’t limit its potential in the private home.

But even I was way interested when NotCot published their dissection of Esquire’s 75th Anniversay E-Ink Cover. “As a random Sunday amusement, couldn’t help picking it up from the newsstand, and as much as i resisted, i lasted a few minutes before i HAD to rip it apart and poke at the digital guts. Designboon has the scoop on the newly unveiled Esquire 75th Anniversary celebratorycovers, as shown in Milan. “esquire recently asked some of the world’s most influential fashion designers to recreate some of the magazine’s most iconic covers. the project was initiated to celebrate the magazine’s 75 anniversary. all of the works, with the exception of one, are based of covers conceived by esquire’s long time art director george lois. in his career with the magazine, he helped create 92 covers. a show featuring highlights from his career is currently on show at new york’s museum of modern art.”
