In recent months we have heard a lot about Spanish magazine apartamento. Taking a completely new approach in the interior design magazine market, they try to capture real interiors and real people – a very intruiging and much needed approach. Finally an interiors magazine that one can relate to.

Today we had the opportunity to flip through their new issue 3, the Spring/Summer 2009 issue. Already the feel and quality of the magazine make a statement by themselves and the content follows that feel of quality 100%. We came across a very interesting article, an interview with A.P.C. founder and designer Jean Touitou. The designer talked about his latest venture – the opening of a kindergarten in Paris, named A.P.E. or Aterlier de la Petite Enfance.

“After 20 years spent in the fashion industry I wanted to touch at last on something related to civilization.” – Jean Touitou.

It is only one of  many great articles in the magazine, that we can highly recommend!

If you’re lucky enough to live or be near Milan on April 20th, you’ll be interested to know that one of our favourite magazines, Apartamento, is hosting an event with the reference library. The events looks set to feature zines by artists, made to order furniture, workshops, vintage clothing and a whole number of activities that will be sure to make any non-Milan dwellers jealous. We’re going to have to apologize for our lateness on this one, but V Magazine’s blog recently held a short interview with the creators of Apartamento, an interiors magazine we featured a while back. Marco Velardi, the magazines associate editor, shows how the magazine functions when he states, “We don’t really care about design. Tired of interior design rags with overly posed and styled rooms? Apartamento celebrates the everyday interior. Well worn objects and spaces championed over the shiny and new. The magazine launched just recently, with its first issue a Summer/Fall 2008 production. In its pages, interiors lead to personal stories and the peculiarities that make each individual place special to its inhabitant. Worth seeking out.
