"Louis Vuitton: Architecture and Interiors" Book

With more than 300 pages and hundreds of illustrations, the new Louis Vuitton: Architecture and Interiors Louis Vuitton: Architecture and Interiors Book book is a look inside the commissioned architecture and interior works of Vuitton flagships and boutiques. Rizzoli published the book and in their words: “Louis Vuitton continues to encourage innovation and playfulness in the designs of their retail spaces without losing sight of the essence of luxury central to its identity. This process of designing places to display high-style objects has created a new venue for cutting-edge architecture and transformed city streetscapes.” A very nice look into the process behind the assembly of a Vuitton shop. Atelier Tekuto Cell Brick House

Selectism - cell-brick-house-01

File this under ‘things to complicated for our pretty little heads to understand, but we know look good’. Architizer has news of this project, which explains the project in detail that’s frankly a little too advanced for us. From what we can gleam, the entire building is made from small steel boxes piled on top of each other – which would explain the name – That alone is reason enough for inclusion. We’d like to try something similar but imagine it might be just a bit more difficult than getting some random boxes and a mountain of nails.

Take a leap to see a couple more pictures.

"Cosmic Communist Constructions Photographed" Book

Curated profiled a new photo-book documenting the best of the weird  in communist architecture earlier this month. “Coming [March 1, 2011] from Taschen, Cosmic Communist Constructions Photographed Cosmic Communist Constructions Photographed Book shares photographer Frédéric Chaubin’s investigation of the “final stage of Soviet architecture.” Free from a “school” and given cart blanch in a crumbling political system, Soviet architects of the 1970s through 1990s pushed boundaries and expressed in full force the ideological dreams. Chaubin’s photographs bring these buildings to life and remind of a vibrant artistic community often forgotten in our memories of the iron curtain.”

Available from Amazon Cosmic Communist Constructions Photographed Book.

selectism - Skype Corporate Headquarters

Located in Clausen, Luxembourg (i.e. the old quarter of Luxembourg City), Skype Corporate Headquarters is part of larger refurbishment of one of the areas existing brewery buildings. Designers WAM were charged with creating a dynamic interior to inspire innovation, but also retain some degree of corporate sophistication. Given the difficult of such a task, Skypes new offices seemed worth posting – we’re interested in knowing if our readers think the space succeeds. (via ArchDaily).

selectism - Thurston Wine House

Let’s not beat around the bush, this is the type of drinking den we’d like as an escape. Recognized for excellence in masonry, the Thurston Wine House Addition was designed by Eddie Jones and is located in Paradise Valley, Arizona (yes, fitting). Descend a winding staircase and the bottle room opens up, each individual wine given personal space to shine. The intent is to provide space for intimate parties. The full story is at Arch Daily.
