Leandro Erlich’s creations mess with your mind, a bit like those magic eye pictures back in the day or when you first discovered 3D (pre-Avatar red and blue specs 3D of course). It goes without saying his work is rather more high-flouting. Incredible scenes where perspective and reality is stretched and pushed to the limit, “Through this transgression of limits, the artist undermines certain absolutes and the institutions that reinforce them”. Design Milk point us towards the work of American artist Pard Morrison whose colourful, block pieces we’d happily display over the fireplace. “Colorado-based Pard Morrison is a modern day geometric abstractionist with work that is a cross between painting and sculpture. His large-scale work features blocks of color configured in a way that gives each piece an illusion of greater dimensionality.”

Phaidon have images of Bernhard Lang’s latest work. The Munich based photographer is obsessed with what he calls ‘the ideal distance – the point where humans and nature could live together in a perfect match’. He’s been around the world living out his obsession, capturing images that are just close enough to allow you to see that the people aren’t mere dots and far away enough to still be an impressive aerial shot. It makes for beguiling viewing, of which you can see more of after the leap.
