Selectism - tim-soar-chukka-01

ASOS continue their Best of British collaboration series with another laundry list of A grade designers. The collection, which officially launches tomorrow, features too many designers for us to mention so we’ve narrowed it down to our two favourite pieces. And those are – drumroll please – these Tim Soar chukkas (above, obviously) and a Peter Jensen Union Jack Jacket. The second choice is nowhere near as awful as it sounds, so don’t be put off. We especially like the chukkas because they look like a collab between Common Projects and Gourmet.

Take that leap, see that jacket.

ASOS Best Of British Collection

04 September 2009, 17.30 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

selectism - asos-best-of-british-01

We were more than a little reticient when we heard of ASOS doing a ‘Best of British’ collaboration collection. But after looking at the full collection, we’re pleasantly surprised – it’s actually pretty darn good. The brand list reads like a dream team of British companies. Aside from the Grensons we featured a few weeks back, the list also includes Baracuta, Fred Perry, Gloverall, Hawick cashmere (pictured above), Mackintosh, Drakes, Dents, John Smedley, Thomas Pink – the list really does go on and on.

The collection officially launches next week, with products finding their way to the virtual shelves from monday onwards. To save you precious time, we’ve included our favourite pieces from the collection after the leap.

Grenson for ASOS Patent Brogue

selectism - grenson-asos-patent-brogue

We’ve gotta admit, we were getting a little tired of collaborations. They’re great when they’re the perfect match of two companies expertise, not so great when it’s just collaborating for the sake of it. So we were as surprised as anyone when we saw just how good Grenson’s collaboration with ASOS turned out.

Part of ASOS’s upcoming ‘Best of British’ collection, these patent brogues are one of four shoes Grenson made with the online retailer. There’s another shoe that we’ll be putting up on Monday, but for now just marvel at just how patent-y these shoes are (you can even see a reflection of a laptop on the toe).

Hudson Zapato Weave Shoes

Without making this sound like an old Kung-Fu film, Hudson was starting to become a classic tale of the master shown up by his student. The H by Hudson diffusion line has gained so much popularity that people started to forget Hudson existed. So Hudson look to show everyone who’s the boss by releasing shoes like the Zapato weave, which add a little variety into the shoe game – which as Skeleton legs have noted, is starting to get a little samey. You can get these from ASOS.
