We’d had to evoke Usher on this esteemed site, but sometimes we like things purely because they remind us of other things. Take this Assembly New York flannel blazer for instance. We can’t look at it without thinking Kolor, which is no bad thing given our love for that label. We’ve also got a thing for forest green at the moment, one of the most versatile colours a man can have in his wardrobe.

Assembly are going full throttle with their in house line. According to H&C, they focused on ‘the effects of time, hunting and gathering and utility based clothing required for such living’. Which is nice. What matters to us is that they’ve made some handsome pieces, like this chunky cardigan that’s worth the leap to see the close up shots. (Hunting & Collecting)

While I prefer a fine cordura backpack, some may prefer the suede leathers. The only issue is that sometimes, when your back is sweating, the fine suede *may* bleed onto your wardrobe. Just saying… At $225 this suede backpack from Assembly New York may be perfect for you. The O.C. has them.

We think this might technically be a women’s backpack, but let’s be honest – who cares? A backpack is a backpack. And if you’re too insecure to wear that might’ve been made for a woman then you’re better off going to one of those sites that tell you how to be a man (who knew manhood came with an instruction guide?). Assembly New York show us their take on the classic sear sucker pant. They’ve updated the fit and made it more relaxed but still kept the classic details. The pants are 100% cotton and are perfect for the summer heat.

Blackbird has taken stock on the new Assembly collection for Spring/Summer 2011. We’ll be highlighting more looks from the collection shortly but for now, we showcase these tailored shorts. Inspiration? “The Assembly Spring 2011 collection echos the work of artist Kazimir Malevich and the Russian Constructavists of the early 20th century by favoring geometry, modernism and social revolution.” Getting serious. The two inch waistband and cuffs finish it off proper. Wear it up.
