Sometimes we feel like we don’t have enough fashion cliches on here so we’ll just say this – black asymetrically zipped varsity jackets are the new black. We have to admit, that felt good. We should deal in cliches more often. We would talk about menswear cliches but in the words of our favourite rapper ever, it’s too close to home and it’s too near the bone. (Mindtrive)

Men’s Reverie takes a deep look at the Autumn 2011 collection from Japan’s Attachment. Designer, Kazuyuzuki Kamagai, continues to search and use new fabrics and textile in the collection while keeping the color palette around a darker, “anthracite” play with slight hints of brights. Expect the usual run of men’s garments all developed with that Japanese touch.

Kazuyuki Kumagai, the designer behind Attachment shows us his take on the classic blazer. “Kumagai worked as an assistant on the design team of Issey Miyake from 1990 to 1995 and learned the craft the hard way under one of fashion’s great icons.” This later lead to his line Attachment in 1998. The “Soft Blazer” comes in a washed linen grey color. The piece is washed and looks to have a very nice silhouette. Available at ArchiveSF.

We’ve always got time for a leather jacket. This isn’t an investment piece but then again, unless you’re planning on floating a piece of clothing on the stock market in a few years time, nothing is. It is a nice jacket though. And it’s from Japan, which automatically makes it better. Don’t ask why, it just is. (Mindtrive)

Here’s another varsity-esque jacket from the good land of Japan. We say varsity-esque because it technically isn’t one, although the shape is reminiscent of it. We especially like the leather panelling – you know the drill, it’s the little details that make the garment and all that jazz. Get your proxy on at Mindtrive.

We’ve been neglecting the leather jacket. It’s not because we don’t love them, it’s just easy to forget about certain pieces in the current menswear climate. This Attachment number is right up our alley right now – it’s hooded, it’s calf leather (buttery soft) and it avoids any overworking. And, as you all know, it’s from Japan and therefore we love it. Fashionisto gives us the scoop on the Spring 2010 collection from Attachement. “Blending classics with modern day staples, Attachment designer Kazuyuki Kumagai builds a multifunctional collection for the upcoming spring season. Where distressed denim adds an accessible element to the range, cropped sweats and leggings keep the collection current, while nylon garments offer a sporty appeal. Finally, a predominantly dark collection is accented by its fair share of livelier colors such as yellow and royal blue, making for a well-balanced season.”

Kazuyuki Kumagai began Attachment in 1998 after having studied under the design team of Issey Miyake during the 90’s. Through his work with Issey Miyake, he grew to leard and respect craftsmanship in fashion.

Now, working closely with textile makers to understand  their works, Attachment has a of a purpose for developing”technical proof” in what could be done with textiles in garment development.
