NDC ‘Ladykiller’ Collection

30 November 2009, 16.30 | Posted in Shoes | No comments »

selectism - ndc-ladykiller-01A wise man once said ‘the shoes maketh the man’ – a sentiment NDC clearly agree with. That’s why they’ve created this new line to go alongside their AW09 collection, entitled the Ladykiller collection.

According to the press release these have been treated with ‘plants and bark before being scrubbed with natural soap and scrubbed to give a worn-out finish’ – nice to know. And aside from being worthy info, it’s also something you can recite to a date if you like being incredibly literal with your shoes.

Take a look at the rest of the collection after the leap.

D.S Dundee Autumn/Winter 2009

selectism - ds-dundee-autumn-2009-01

If 2009 was entitled anything apart from ‘the year the recession hit’ it would be known as ‘the year of the site relaunch’. We’ve lost count of the number of great blogs, stores and magazines who’ve revamped their online digs this year and we can add D.S Dundee to that ever expanding list.

With a list of influences that include Kemal Ataturk (the first democratic president of Turkey for the uninitiated), it’s safe to assume that D.S Dundee are doing more than just reproducing classic country garb. Shooting jackets, double breasted overcoats, corduroy suits and copious amounts of tweed all make an appearance in a slimmed and trimmed manner.

More pictures are (where else?) after that leap.

Oki-Ni’s New Faces Of Menswear

(L-R: Odeur, Satyenkumar)

While news that the British Fashion Council is sponsoring menswear designers is promising, it’s actually getting their pieces into stores that’s been the problem. Oki-Ni look to remedy that problem by launching a new section, titled ‘New Faces of Menswear’.

The initiative unofficially kicked off with Mr. Hare – who makes the segsiest shoes out there – and Hederus, who both launched a few weeks ago. It’ll continue with Odeur and Satyenkumar launching at the end of the week. Satyenkumar’s been on the site for a few seasons now, but don’t let that dull your excitement. Finishing it all off will be Martine Rose, Christopher Shannon, Kling By Kling and Lou Dalton, who’ll all be launching within the next two months.

Take a leap to see further shots of the designers involved.

Common Projects Autumn/Winter 2009 Wallets

13 August 2009, 17.30 | Posted in Accessories | 1 comment »

selectism - common-projects-autumn-2009-wallets-01

Judging from their AW09 collection, Common Projects won’t rest until every accessory you own is made by them. One of these wallets did the rounds a while back, but here’s the rest for you to take a gander at. As you’d expect from CP, it’s stripped down and free from all the bells and whistles you see in other wallets. As has been noted before, there’s two zipper wallets and two accordian wallets.

Shots of the other wallets are after that leap.

Gloverall Duffle Coats

Selectism - gloverall-autumn-2009-01.jpg

Sticklers for authenticity will love this. Gloverall, a company who’ve been focused on outerwear for ages, are bringing out a few more contemporary versions of their famous duffle coats. We’ve been a little duffle-heavy lately, but what can we say, we like them. That said, we’ve got a horrible feeling that they’ll become this years version of the peacoat – and by that we mean absolutely everyone will hop on the bandwagon a bit too early and we’ll be forced to abandon it. If that happens, we’ll only have ourselves to blame.

Out of the two duffles we’re more partial to the beige-toggled versions, but we wouldn’t blame you if you liked the other version. The cut is a slim one and they’re made in London – which not many companies can claim to do these days. They’ll be available at select retailers next month.

Our Legacy Autumn/Winter 2009

21 July 2009, 15.30 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

selectism - our-legacy-autumn-2009-01

With all the focus on Capsule and SS10 collections, Our Legacy quietly snuck out their AW09 lookbook the other day. As you’d expect it looks great, although we wouldn’t recommend the shoeless look you see on the left. Actually, we would recommend the look, just put some footwear on.

After featuring the clothes looking lonely, It’s nice to see them all dolled up. It makes it that much easier to see where they’ve made cut adjustments. The trousers all look like they’ve got more of a taper, with a couple of jeans bordering on slim legged – a first for the company. Blazers also seem a little closer cut to the body – no bad thing.

Take a gander at more pictures after the leap.

COS Autumn/Winter 2009 Backpack

21 July 2009, 13.30 | Posted in Accessories | 9 comments »

selectism - cos-autumn-2009-backpack-01

We featured this before, but it’s worth a closer look. We’ve been personal fans of COS for quite a while now – the only reason we don’t feature them more is because they’re very hard to get hold of. The Japanese stuff we feature is fiddly, but getting a COS piece without walking into a store is damn near impossible.

We liked this bag when we saw the preview, but loved it after seeing it in store. The first thing we love is that it’s huge, as in The North Face backpack huge. It could easily fit enough clothes for an overnight stay or a 15inch laptop with room to spare. The second thing is that the canvas material feels raw, like cocaine straight from Bolivia. The third thing is that it captures the whole hunter/workwear thing that’s going to be hot this Autumn down to a tee. It’s also at an affordable price (£129).

Take a look at some detailed shots after that jump.

Cold Method Autumn/Winter 2009

cold method autumn 2009 01 Cold Method Autumn/Winter 2009

Cold Method came out with their ‘9 Aesthetics of a man’s wardrobe’ campaign, creating a capsule wardrobe for their vision of a stylish man.  Their AW09 collection continues that stripped down focus, concentrating on a the cornerstones of a wardrobe.

There’s leather jackets, pea coats (which look like they’ll be making a return after blowing a little too quickly last year) and blazers amongst the outerwear, with our favourite being the dark green leather jacket. The knitwear is the strongest part of the collection, with cable knit sweaters and chunky shawl neck cardies making a welcome return. Take a gander at the rest of the collection after the jump.

Here’s a look at more of Dunderdon’s AW09 collection. If you’re a lover of chambray, flannel and shawl collar cardigans then you’re in luck – there’s plenty of all three in this collection. There’s also some great cable knit crewnecks, sweatshirts and the neverending trend (check shirts) also make an appearance.

You know what you’ve gotta do, go ahead and take a leap to see the rest of the collection.

Dunderdon Autumn/Winter 2009 Outerwear

dunderdon autumn 2009 outerwear 01 Dunderdon Autumn/Winter 2009 Outerwear

Here’s a first look at some of Dunderdon’s AW09 outerwear. We’ve got the rest of the collection, but we’d break the internet if we posted it all at once. When we think of winter dressing, we think of great coats. The right one can smarten up or casual down (that’s not a real phrase, but we like it) any outfit and Dunderdon have the right mix to satisfy our needs. If there was one knock against this collection, it’d be the styling, but the pieces themselves would suit any number of looks.
